If they are serious about making the playoffs, then Damlembert's veteran presence will be needed. If they want to just roll the dice and see what we have in Hill/Thabeet and improve our 2012 draft standing, then pass, or keep whatever lowball offer is on the table.
dalembert would be okay - we need the depth and he can block shots. this team needs a true center that can play 25 minutes a night. 8 PTS 8 RPG 50% + FG 70%+ FT i can see scola, hill, and patterson ALL playing well NEXT to dalembert
The team looked good enough the other night to say that the addition of true 5 would give them a chance.
I hope we don't get him. At this point he would just get in the way of the development of Jordan Hill and Hasheem Thabeet. Plus from what I'm hearing he's out of shape and is looking for a big pay day. Not to mention this wouldn't be fair for the young guys who have been working their tales off, to have some old dude come in and start taking their minutes.
This signing would not take away a lot. Look at the bodies of Jordan and Hasheem. Even if they were 10 real centers in this league, you still have to play them. These two can't bulk up in 5 months. Season is rolling on.....This aint the off season.
The Rockets need to sign this guy, especially with the loss of Chuck Hayes. Dalembert could make a real difference for this team. With his addition and the expected development of some of the young players, and considering the team's strong finish last year, they could be surprisingly good.
Now Sac Kings lost Chuck, they must be thinking about re-signing Sammy D. It hurts our chance to acquire him.
Well I'm in the "this year is for developing" camp. So I'm not looking for this team to compete for a playoffs this year, I would prefer for us to concentrate on the young guys development. So in my view, the more time they can get on the court the better.
“@daldridgetnt: Sources: Rockets, at the moment, taking a pass ($) on Dalembert, leaving return to Kings as s possibility.” https://twitter.com/daldridgetnt/status/149126129154928640
What might Otis or the Nyets or the Lakes think about Scola and/or Martin and/or etc etc? To get in one must have an entree card.
The only thing is that he should not start. JHill and Thabeet should get the majority of the minutes, with Hayes as the defensive stopper. This is a rebuilding team, Chuck would be more of a mentor. DD
