He has only 3 starts, just like the armchairs that don't want to put any stock in his first two successful starts, do likewise in a bad game. All QB's have bad games, Schaub has looked just as bad at times...Heck, before Cam played the Texans even he had more INT's than TD's, and we all know in hindsight Cam is deserving of the 1st pick . . . regardless of who our QB is, I think we definitely need a Justin Blackmon type of receiver out there to compliment Dre (man we miss Dre)
I'm not bashing Yates. He's a rookie after all. Overall, I like what I've seen of him. Hopefully he can become a starting caliber QB for us. But all the people saying we could trade Schaub now were foolish.
^ I agree that we should draft a receiver in the first round to team up with Dre, but andre has been pretty reliable. Last year, he could have played those last three games on beast mode but they were meaningless games. Andre is a warrior. A hamstring injury can happen to young receivers, cbs, lbs. It has nothing to do with his body breaking down As for yates, it's like tzu would say, He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot will be victorious. Next time Yates will know that he cannot make that throw and just throw it away.
yeah. I was proud of the kid and he did/does show some good things, but people's initial over reaction was just ridiculous. Schaub is a damn fine QB, I don't know why people cannot recognize that.
I don't care too much if he makes these mistakes in the regular season as long as he fixes it for playoffs. But it'd be nice to have homefield
I think the criticizing of Yates is more due to weird, blind fans who think he's on par or better than Schaub. Stuff like "Schaub couldn't have made that last drive against Cincy" when Schaub wouldn't have put the Texans down 16-3 in the first place with a horrible first half. You are right. For a rookie QB, regardless of where he's drafted, I absolutely love the guy. He could've been our 1st round pick and I would still be ecastatic with his overall performance. I think he has an incredible future, allowing for a seemless transition as Schaub's contract expires after next season. But for this season, Yates is still lacking. Anyone without anti-Schaub glasses can see the offense doesn't run nearly as smoothly with him. And this includes games against Cincy and Atlanta, not just against Carolina. Sure, he may have a bigger arm and speed to run, but his accuracy and decision-making are both a step below Schaub at this point in his career. I think with a healthy AJ, we're okay at receiver. But given his injury history, I agree we need someone else. However, given that the team is built to win now, I prefer getting a veteran receiver instead of a rookie. Unless said rookie is as polished as AJ Green.
It's like people think Schaub still doesn't make dumbass throws. People think we were blowing out teams with Schaub too for some reason. Yates isn't better than Schaub now, but he's definitely more talented. His mistakes last game were due to pack if experience. As long as Yates bounces back and performs well again, I still think Schaub should be traded for a first, and we use that pick for Justin Blackmon (I bet Washington would trade for Schaub). But let's not act like TJ was helped out by the team last Sunday, or that Cincy game.
what do you mean? We WERE blowing teams out with Schaub. yes, Schaub makes mistakes but the offense runs a lot better with him.
We were. Under Schaub, we had a +107 point differential in 10 games. Under Yates, it's been 0. Is that why Yates was a 5th round pick and Schaub was a 3rd rounder? And the Texans traded two 2nd rounders and swapped 1st round picks to get Schaub. Foster had 109 yards rushing and 58 yards receiving on Sunday. He averaged 6.8 yards per carry. The defense held the Bungles to 19 points.
Schaub haters want to find anything to rag on him. Do they really think we have a better chance in the playoffs with TJ than Schaub?
Come on guys Yates has a bright future, but Schaub has a lot of experience.....the Texans would be looking at a number 1 seed with Matt S at the helm instead of hoping for a 2. DD
Why don't you go look at the scores for those games. Beating Jax at home by ten and Cleveland by 17 isn't really blowing out. I'll give you the Titans and Bucs game though.
Why does where each player was picked matter? Is Arian Foster less talented than Steve Skating? And yeah, let's dismiss Foster's fumble, or Johnathan Joseph letting Smith run right by him. Or Tate's fumble in the red zone in Cincy. Let's dismiss those...
No, let's just look at the fact that Yates has just 3 TD's in 3 games (to go with 3 INTs and 2 fumbles lost). While Schaub had 15 TD's in 10 games (with only 6 INTs and 1 fumble lost). Schaub also has a higher completion %, throws down the field more, and is much better on 3rd downs.
Yes, because Schaub has more experience than Yates, so he is better as of right now. Yates has shown that he has the potential to be better than Schaub. More talent (arm strength, mobility, pocket toughness/presence). And let's not act like Schaub didn't throw some dumb picks when he first got here. Hell, he still does....
It was 18, and yes, that's a blowout. They led 30-6 at one point. They had JAX down 21-7 in the 4Q. Blowout. They beat Indianapolis 34-7; Tennessee 41-7; Tampa Bay 37-9... They've averaged 16.6/game with Yates; they scored 17 or fewer just twice in 10 games with Schaub and averaged 27.3/game. Come on... Yates might have a bright future and he may one day be better than Schaub - but he's not in his stratosphere right now. Not even close. I can't even fathom someone debating this.
