What EVIDENCE do we have that Morey is doing a great/good job?

With a healthy Yao & Tmac. How many times did that duo get past the 1st round before Adelman?

I like Artest, but he wasnt the reason we got outta 2nd round. That was Aaron Brooks team, and for the record, he's an Adelman guy

I call to strike that from the record. :)

There's no evidence that Adelman insisted on Brooks being drafted. Though Adelman deserves credit for being a supportive coach and giving him the confidence to lead the team after Rafer was traded away.

The front office (and there's a lot of people involved, not just Morey) should get the lion share of the credit/blame for whoever they draft, unless there's evidence they had to be convinced by someone else to make the selection.

I forgot about the other 1st round pick. I think it turned into Omri Casspi. ANOTHER 2009 draft pick.

He's a decent player, makes the assets a little tougher to give up. Though there was other late round talent in that draft, Rockets mighta just drafted Jermaine Taylor anyway instead of buying him ...

All in all, Rockets went from NO draft picks to 2009 into three 2nd rounders, one in Budinger who is currently a starter. I don't hear "We shoulda kept CASSPI!!" anywhere NEAR the "We shoulda kept Rudy Gay" cries. I'm personally still good with the trade. Would appear others are too from what we're NOT hearing

exactly. look at our starting lineup at the end of last year when we went on our run. how did we get all of those guys?

starting PG lowry? we got him for rafer alston, who i believe was out of the league 2 years later.

starting SG martin? while we needed tmac's salary for matching purposes (a role any stiff with a bad contract could play), we got him for carl landry who we got with a 2nd round pick.

starting SF budinger? 2nd round pick.

starting PF scola? traded for vspan! who i'm not sure ever played another nba game and is now in greece.

starting C hayes? on the team before morey got here but i believe morey signed him to the 4 yr/$8M deal that made him one of the best values in the league for several years.

so there you go, a very nice finish to the season accomplished by a starting lineup acquired through the use of rafer alston, vspan, and 2 2nd round picks. how could morey not turn those assets into a title contender!

and people who bring up dorsey in the "morey does some good things, morey does some bad things in the draft" argument are like people still bringing up korleone young in the "should high schoolers be allowed to enter the draft" argument. get some new, or at least better, material. the presence of one low-damage mistake doesn't mean you can make the case that it's a mixed bag.

My grade is still a B.

It seems Morey does everything ELSE well that Carroll Dawson didnt. That includes building the D-League affiliate into a true development system for the Rockets. Though the benefit is marginal, it is working ahead of the field.

Carroll Dawson brought in BIG NAMES. Barkley, Pippen, Steve Francis, Eddie Griffin, Yao, McGrady, Mutombo. Can include "names" like Kevin Willis and Eddie Johnson. Morey is close, but has NOT.

Combine Morey and Carroll Dawson into ONE GM, and you have an A+ GM.

Turning second round draft picks into solid assets, trading toxic assets like t-mac for good value, and keeping our salary flexible/workable.

    EXACTLY how I see it.

CD had great relationships in the league and that helped him a lot, Morey doesn't have those yet.

This is known among Rocket fans. I dont recall Morey or anybody else from FO that went to his games at Oregon, but Adelman. Rick never wanted to trade Brooks

Where do you come up with this?

How do you know what relationships Morey has.

I am assuming you mean "have gone bad with players." I'm sorry I just can't take you seriously. Aside from this year, for good reason, Morey has brought free agents in annually, so I fail to see your point. If you are talking about recent star free agents, I challenge you name one that has not signed to either Miami, LA, or New York. Please don't name Randolph as that signing could have easily turned the Grizz into the Pistons. Is that what you want from our GM?

I dont expect you to take me seriously being Morey can do no wrong in your eyes. But the fact is he just hasnt got it done. He's been GM for 4 years and we're collecting B-level talent. You can make excuses for him all you wish, but if look around the western conference you'll see all the bottom level teams have gotten significantly better and more talented. Minnesota, the Clippers Sacremento and even Golden State all have more upside than the Rockets.

You blame Adelman, you blame Tmac, you blame AB, and now your blaming Stern. My question is, when will you guys actually hold DARYL MOREY accountable?

Well if you're saying we were 4rth in the west because of a healthy Yao and Tmac, why are you then pinning the blame on Morey for the recent losing records? Doesn't that pea-sized brain of your recognize that those same dudes are the reason why the rockets haven't won anything the past couple of years? BTW I don't even know why you think Adelman was the reason for success, the past two years we've been out of the playoffs and Adelman was our coach at the time.

Maybe when he actually makes a major screwup? I don't count drafting Dorsey as a franchise killer

I have no idea what you are talking about. I never blamed any one for the state of our team, and at this point along with any other reasonable human being on the planet, I don't feel the need to. I am not exactly sure why the Rockets organization deserves blame to begin with. Further, you failed to answer my question which ultimately leads me to believe you are simply far too irrational to have an intelligent conversation with. I fail to see any A level talent that any of the teams you mentioned have amassed this year. If you are talking prospects like Cousins, Love or Curry, those players were drafted into a losing environment from the start. Aside from the Clippers and the allure to be in Los Angeles, (what was my question again? Thought so.) it is astounding you would mention three teams with some of the most terrible losing cultures, who at this point are nothing special comparatively. I am curious to know if you are even aware of the serious problems those organizations are facing or if you are solely blinded by draft positioning.

"He just hasn't got it done" aside from the obvious grammatical blunder, is nothing more than a baseless claim. At first you said it was because no one wants to sign here, which I already disproved and raised a question which you conveniently didn't bother to answer. I never said Morey could do no wrong, so please enlighten me.

Just be clear, you dont like Rick Adelman. In your eyes Adelman never existed and Daryl Morey's the one who coached this team to it's first 1st round playoff victory in years:rolleyes:

How can you claim Tmac & Yao's health problems are the reason we haven't won anything past couple years, but then in the same sentence place blame soley on Adelman for our mediocrity? Lmao. Your basketball knowledge is as shallow as it gets. It seems you watch bit & pieces of Rockets games, catch a few highlights, read the paper and come to these ridiculous conclusions.

At the end of the day, Morey's a below average GM. Until he actually delivers on his promises, you can't help but notice how much better other team have gotten. Since you seem to think I'm so wrong in my assesment, I challenge you to give me ONE team in the west the Rockets have more talent than? Hopefully you'll stay on topic this time

Can't we just be objective? The truth is the Rocket's didn't make the playoffs last year and they have no superstar. The Rockets are also in one of the worst position to be in, too good to get top five picks not good enough to really contend.

I would have to give Morey a D average. My reasoning is that if your in college a D is passing but if the class is in your major you don't get credit. Basically Morey doesn't deserve any credit because the rockets are mediocre and their is no debating that fact. The only reason why Morey doesn't get a F is because he has done decent when it comes to picking up players in the draft.

It is not that hard to figure out that a guy who was in basketball for 40 years had more relationships in the league than a guy out of MIT.

Come on Larsv......it is not Rockets science.

Morey will develop them, but he has not been around long enough yet.
