Correct - i never said to insert T-Will into the lineup right away, and nor did i say he belongs there.

T-Will will be (and should be) coming off the bench for the foreseeable future because he hasn't proved anything.

Using a small sample from the last 23 games of his rookie year, he averaged 13.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 5.1 apg. These stats also include 3 double-doubles and 1 triple-double (2 double-doubles and the triple-double coming off the bench). Those are pretty good numbers for a rookie.

If he can put up those kinds of numbers coming off the bench for 17 of those 23 games, in addition to playing defense, it's hard to imagine that he wouldn't be able to perform at a similar level (if not better) with a better team and better coaching around him.

Young, fast, and defensive minded athletes that can push the ball down court.

So, Adelman didn't like him, and neither did Avery Johnson - 2 great coaches, what excuse will we make when Bud starts all year under McHale, that he didn't like him too?

Maybe, just maybe it is that the coaches did not like his turnovers, and low shooting percentage, and that outweighed the positive contributions on the court.

I guarantee you if he shoots poorly and turns it over, McHale won't like him either.

I was at the game. He looked very good. I really liked when he pushed the ball on the break and took it to the rim on his own. He brought up the ball several times and initiated the offense. I was impressed.

I meant no disrespect to T-Will. I am happy to see him finally make some good contribution to the team. What I mean is that it is too early to tell who's better. Bud may not be as talented as T-will but he played great in the latter half of last season. Don't get too overexcited by a preseason game.

But seriously about T-Will, if he can develop a Tony Parker-like offensive game he will do very well in this league. Meaning he needs to almost abandon the 3pt shot and focus on those pull ups and driving to the hoop. I don't know if he has the handles that Parker has, but he does have a nice looking first step and it seems like he has a knack for getting to the basket. I was hoping his 3pt shot would be better, but man that was pretty disgusting in his one wide open attempt Also, he has to get better at free throws.

That being said I'm somewhat optimistic about T-Will now. I really hope this dude can put things together this year. A player in his style would be a huge score for the Rockets.

This. You all forget that he got pulled real quick in the first half after he took that fast break shot when it was 1 on 3. Its the preseason folks. If he plays that wreckless in a regular season game, he will find his way out of the lineup real quick.... again.

That is the fear, especially when you have more reliable players around him in Kmart, CBud, and CLee.......which is why I think one of them needs to be moved so that TWill gets to play through his mistakes.

That was his first significant action in almost a year so he might be rusty or anxious on the court. I think those mistakes are forgivable.

All could be said for Chase Budinger.

The guy was the worst NBA player I have ever seen the first couple months of last season...

Is that after he came back from the sprained ankle? IIRC when Lowry came back from his bad back he stunk it up for a while too.

Maybe we should take that into consideration when we decide to bash players?

He didn't look too rusty in that 2nd half. I think he will come along just fine.;)

If Chase Budinger has the stretches of supreme softness that he had last year, McHale won't be as kind as Adelman was.

Chase and Terrence are both extremely flawed.

One has bouts of soft, feminine fragility, and the other has bouts of ADHD...

(I wish we would deal Kevin Martin and start both of them together...)

Yes they are both flawed, but as you saw last season, when you put them both on the floor together they make magic. Also, you don't have to trade Martin in order for them both to play. Whether you guys like it or not, with such a compressed season, we are going to need every player on the team to compete.
