Now from the "I'm not saying, I'm just saying" department:

Ryan Leaf started his career with 2 wins and looked like a young QB headed to a decent career. Don't put so much stock in the short body of work. (now, put stock in the GW drive all you want, that was legit)

Hehe. I just think too much is being made of 2 games.(and I think the greatness of that drive is clouding some of the negatives of said 2 games.) Not that I'm complaining about what he has helped the Texans do. Nor that I wouldn't cheer my butt off him tomorrow or the rest of the year.

And if Ryan Leaf had Gary Kubiak, and his system, grooming him how to be a quality QB, he'd probably still be playing in the NFL.

I put a TON of stock in how a QB is developed... sure, they have to possess some neccessary tools and mental ability, and its a reason why Kubiak likes guys like Yates over possibly guys like Blaine Gabbert or David Carr, but in the end if you don't groom a QB with competent coaching and an adequate system, they could be done regardless of how much raw talent they have.

Enough can't be said of this. I've had a tough time defending Kubiak the past 4-5 years, but I always knew he was a great offensive mind and an even more brilliant QB coach. Yates has poise and confidence, which shouldn't be confused with cockiness or swagger (see Blaine Gabbert).

Just imagine what Kubiak could do with Tebow? I'm not saying Tebow is better than Yates, just imagine how much better of a QB Tebow would be with the Texans' QB coaches.

People saying he's better than Schaub got a tad bit ahead of themselves.

Our offense doesn't look the same.

yep. all those people who wanted to get rid of schaub - you can't replace his decision making on the field. He may be immobile and not have the cannon arm, but he makes the right decisions. Yates still has a long ways to go.

I think TJ will be O.K., unless you are Cam Newton (good grief, was that Warren Moon, Jr. out there!) rookies are going to have their ups and downs. Today was a down, but, unfortunately, he had lots of help. I still say T.J. will exceed expectations. One, he needs AJ back and more work, his throws were short today for the most part. It was like he was short arming them.

he was throwing a bunch of passes short and low and you could see early that he was panicking in the pocket. he got happy feet and kept checking it down to Vickers. we all knew this was coming, so hopefully Yates will learn and do better on Thursday. Indy may have a bad record but Freeney and Mathis are no joke.

Yeah, I don't understand why he was so skiddish today, the O-line was giving him pretty good protection and he had good pocket poise in his last two starts against much better pass rushes. Maybe the early INT shook him a bit.

He was down for 3 quarters in the Bengals game. I like the kid but he has a lot to learn.

Well, Tom Brady and Joe Montana have also thrown picks in the redzone. I guess Yates on par with Schaub, Brady, and Montana.

But he is better than Schaub. The mistakes he made today will get fixed with experience. And lets not act like Schaub doesn't throw dumb interceptions.

He is not. The offense not looked good the past couple weeks. And the runninggame was good yesterday.

He is worse than Shaub in every QB stat.
