I did mention earlier in the thread that Thabeet has played good defense on Howard in the past. No reason to believe that he won't get better at it. I had the video to prove it.

So he will be missed on the floor but not on the court?

Chuck was out of position guarding guys 6-8 inches taller than him. He is a defensive stopper.

I say suit Mchale up! Short season, old dude. Watch him put the yung-un's in the popcorn machine. Pop pop pop goes the weasel cause the weasel goes pop!
And yes, I WOULD then expect Larry Bird to come thru those doors...next. Hello front court. I would pay to see that.. Uhum sure would.

I found this video, pretty much shows what he can do in the post when playing well. The only other time I've seen him play well was actually against the Rockets early last year in one of the first games.

However, other than that I've never seen him do much. The only choice is to give him solid PT this year. Jordan Hill will start assuming no one is signed. I think Hasheem has had enough time to develop. Time to let him out there and see if he makes it. I'm not a believer, nor a hater of the guy.

Chuck was less than a tweener. I'm pretty sure he was far from any more growing spurts.
But just the same he was NO scoring threat and his main move was taking the ball from unsuspecting centers when they brought it down low. Not the free throw maker either. He had a great motor and allot of heart. THAT IS DONE! We must move on. Thabeet is making 5 mil on his contract. Obvioulsy SOMEONE saw SOMETHING in him. Short season, sink or swim.

Seriously the guy just needs playing time, he is not ever going to be a demonstrative player, but he has a lot of tools to be pretty good.

I want my coaches on the bench, no tin the game.

And paying Chuck $2M to be a backup PF is fine, but once he gets into the $5M range, he has priced himself out of a job here (think Kenny Thomas). This was not supposed to be a Chuck-bashing rant. I just don't see how this team could get better by keeping him around at the price he received. I would take my chances with Thabeet and wait for better options than locking myself into 4 years of Chuck at $5M per when he has no position to play on this team.

I really don't want to bash chuck either. He was an overachiever for sure. He's gone, we move on.
Sometimes though, you must dance with who you brought.

    You can't amnesty any more?

I figured he had a shot at being amnestied but being an expiring contract if he shows ANYTHING at all, someone else might like to take a shot, or maybe we keep him.

It's somewhat obvious from all the various videos that were put recently that Thabeet is seriously lacking confidence. He walks around with his head down a lot. His mind is just not in the game. He's not a dumbass, so whats wrong?

LOL Thabeet has a Youtube highlight reel. I've seen it all.

Here's one thing that video showed me: the dude's had quite a few violent collisions at the basket getting his blocks. Dikembe and Hakeem could teach him how to fall away from the shooter, but that's for another day. The main take home point is, HE'S NOT INJURY PRONE! We couldn't say that about our center of the past decade.

I've seen enough. Thabeet is worth the time...

    1. His natural shotblocking instincts at 7-4 are remarkable.

    2. Thabeet has the potential to clog the lane like Yao used to.

    3. He is constantly changing shots, and he is PHYSICAL and ATTENTIVE. I even saw him scream at the ref!

He is worth EVERY SECOND of development time...

    ALL HAIL DADAKOTA!

I think McHale coming in is the best thing that could possibly happen for Thabeet and Jordan.
