I know what he meant, and I recognize Hill catches like a girl, but what I'm refuting is that Hill isn't athletic, when in fact he is. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give him a respectable 7.7.

Because we get emotionally attached to our team and we tend to rate our own players higher then they may be, another way to rate him (or anybody) is to ask what you would give to get him. Which of our current roster players would you trade one for one to get a Jordan Hill. I'm guessing none of our starters - that tells you something. Which of our prospects - that will tell you something.

You can also do draft picks. Would you give up a lottery pick for him - I wouldn't. Second half of the first round - maybe, maybe not at this point. Second rounder - sure. Again that tells you something.

Some are late bloomers at center. I would keep him around. He is useful at both center and PF. He may not be all world but he can provide good play at both spots in a pinch.

One thing is being a homer, and another is thinking clearly. You do think clearly about Hill, and your argument is very sound regarding a player's value around the league, but be careful because it is not sound for evaluating a player's value to his own team. To reverse your example, think of when Miami virtually gave Beasley away, his value was much higher to other teams around the league than to a revamping Miami Heat, yet Minny didn't surrender any assets because Miami needed the capspace.
