http://aroyalpain.com/2011/12/16/rockets-in-serious-talks-with-samuel-dalembert-kings-in-or-out/ So we are working to keep him long term? Surprise
Two years I'm fine with, three is meh, four would be insane. edit: weird that the blog would cite an article (this one) that says nothing about the years being negotiated
hope that's true. maybe we can finally get a center that can give us 2 blocks and a double-double center every night. he's definitely more than capable of that. wouldn't mind seeing them sign him to a 4 year deal with the 4th year as a team option. he'd be a great asset on the court or for a trade later down the road to help us net a special player.
When does FA signing end ? My guess is they are waiting to see what Thabeet and Hill can give them tonight or Dalembert still wants too much money.
It doesn't end, though there is a point in the season when if you sign a FA after that date, they aren't eligible for the playoff roster. Not sure how the NBA is handling that with the short season, or if that changed with the new CBA.
well thanks. good to know. A reasonable three weeks are all there is time to sign free agents for the upcoming season in order to have time to prepare. The major FAs are gone for sure by then.
Are we still talking about this? Man, we must be bored to tears, or overly excited about Dalembert. How about we just start a thread that has a countdown to the game tonight? It would be of more use than this one is anymore. Pugs
What's stopping you? Whether or not Dalembert is signed kind of has an impact on the team. This is one of the less asinine active threads in the GARM, actually.
Given that we did not amnesty Thabeet, then we know the max amount available to sign Dalembert - a $7.8 million starting salary, per Bimathug's cap update. So the only question would be years. My guess is that either the third year or fourth year would only be a small guarantee. Dalembert no doubt wants the full four years, guaranteed, plus 4.5% raises. A two year deal would be very nice, as it would keep his focus, something he might lose with a four year fully guaranteed contract.
That's probably pretty reasonable, but I think Morey is only buying if it's a complete bargain; 6 mill per or less.
I would also like 3yrs with an option for a 4th. He is 30 so having around in his prime would not be too bad.
The Mavs have another TE of $5.2M for the trade of Fernandez+Brewer to Denver. Denver used for this operation part of the TE generated in the Melo trade.
