If we could sign him to a reasonable contract, I would love to get this guy. It seems like last year people around here were saying how much better our team would be with someone like Dalembert. Now everyone thinks the Rockets are going to suck because we don't have Chris Paul or Dwight Howard. I would love to see what this team could do with Dalembert, I think a lot of people would be surprised. We have a lot of young players and this team may blossom into something pretty special if we had a guy in the middle to block shots and rebound.
Funny thing, well maybe not funny, is that even with Dalembert I don't think we are a playoff team...even 8th seed. Depressing...but once the games start then we can focus on the squad and not the bigger picture so much.
There was a point last year near the trade deadline where people were talking about Dalembert being enough to take us into the playoffs and perhaps make some noise.... Now I know everyone is in love with the idea of tanking but you can always sign a guy like Dalembert, see how the team is going, and make the decision to firesale and tank mid-year.... In other words.... YOU DON'T HAVE TO MAKE THE DECISION TO TANK BEFORE THE SEASON EVEN STARTS PEOPLE
I think we will be a playoff team if we sign Dalembert. However, that is only if Dalembert shows up every night. Last year we were (IIRC) 3 games out of the playoffs with Memphis. Our team is NOT that bad. We have a great scorer in K-Mart and Scola, a great PG on the rise with Lowry and a decent 3 spot with Bud and maybe Twill/Morris. If we get Dalembert, he will at least equal if not out perform Hayes. I love Hayes and he was a man on a mission every night but height matters in the NBA and Dalembert has height and decent timing.
I know. That's why I congratulated you. You get to keep those guys and pursue the #8 spot. I'm sure other teams will be lining up to offer the Rockets a king's ransom for those guys after that happens.
All he does is hurt our draft position. Les must really want to be the next Drayton McLane, because the Rockets have become the new Astros.
You know 2012 free agency is a waste right now? Cp3 is with the Clips, Dwight's gonna be traded to LA or Jersey, and everyone else worth a lot will be extended or restricted.. No real point in saving a bunch of cap space for 2012 for no ones. Murray is gonna have to rebuild through trades. Dalambert being signed could also help that...
Come on man, that is no where near true. I agree that the only way to rebuild is through the draft, but I doubt you can propose a trade that we can get picks and stars with our roster. We are stuck so at least support the team with what we have. Things will change in the near future, but support what we have (Stern approval or not) and support our team. We have a new coach and we have yet to see what we have. Tanking should not be an option until 20 games into the season. If we start out 5-20, then hell yea, play rookies, lose games and end the season 11-55 or so. At least see what we have to offer. We ALL know the rockets play with heart and determination. Maybe, if anything, we can show some of the FA's in 2012 that this is a good place to be.
