seems like that link didn't work. here's the one I used. http://houston.cbslocal.com/2011/12/15/vetoed-trade-will-have-ripple-effect-on-rockets/
Thanks for the link! "Pressing forward" - Poor Daryl I'm hoping there is lots of video from media day today
He wants a top 15 player (in their prime) and none are available. Something has to give. Let's hope Les and Daryl are in the acceptance phase. Let's also hope that our veterans are traded before the season starts, so we can grit out teeth and rebuild through the lottery. Of course, that's up to Les, but he's kidding himself if he thinks he can put lipstick on a pig and sell it to the public.
Was it me or did he let something slip when Meltser asked him about the PG rotation? He began to say that the roster number would change and then stopped himself. Probably nothing but the guy did sound exhausted.
I want to give him a big hug. Poor guy. Fck David Stern. I wanted him to go Cartman and go "You know, I liked to be at least wined and dined before I get FCKED IN THE ASS!"
Good morning, how's it going today? Marc, John, we're pressing ahead here. After what did not happen last week, how has preparation been for this season? Obviously the NFL went through that compressed schedule and so are we. Doesn't make it easy for the coaching staff to get the players ready but no excuses. We got to get them ready like every other team. I dont think the average fan understands how much goes into trying to get a deal done. You think you have a deal done and then it's not. Can you explain it all? We'll address more at media day today. To address your question directly, in a normal process, folks who work on deals in other businesses can understand this, these deals are hundred of hours, lots of work and people's lives involved. These are just normal deals. That's not involving the league office owning a team and it being a top 5 player in the league. A perfect storm of disheartening process. Anything you can do at this point, a process, that you can go through with the league to fix this? No, no excuses here. We gotta keep improving the team. No remedy here even if we wanted to pursue one. Did the trade set the Rockets back 3 years? If you work on a trade that you felt upgraded the club, and we felt it did, it was an extraordinary decision because some of the players involved in the trade being very very good players and it wasn't fair to them, what they went through. That said, we are excited about this team and the potential about it. Safe to say you continue to work on other possibilities? Kevin works tirelessly to get the players prepared and I work tirelessly with my staff to continue to bring in the right players for Coach McHale through all the ways we can. What do the Rockets look like inside now without Chuck? We'll constantly look for upgrades but until...right now we are excited about what the players on the roster can bring us. Chuck was a high quality player, underrated by the league, but our fans are smart fans. He got caught up in this as well that we lost and it's next man up. We got Patterson, Hill, Thabeet and Scola. We'll see what those guys can bring us. How has it been with McHale running practices and some differences of recent years? McHale brings a different style. Everyone has a different style. Think it will be effective with our team. We really believe the focus they're bringing is the best for the team. To be specific, its very high focus on D. We were one of the top offenses last year, we'll try to focus more on D end. Do you see yourself keeping 3 PGs? Our final decisions, 20 players right now, maybe 19 depending on, we'll see what we do with the roster today or tomorrow in terms of the next steps there but I would say, right now, I'm sorry what was the question again? The PG situation. Lowry is the starter, one of the better starters in the league and then after that, McHale is really saying the guys that win minutes will win minutes. Goran provided great minutes last year so he might have the edge. If Flynn can prove he can help us win more, he might have a chance as well. Looking at the schedule, how will you manage the players or just play like you always do? No excuses. We have to play the same schedule as every other team. There will be 21 back to backs. ... It will all work out. In terms of prep, part of D focus approach in practice is strong approach on conditioning and discipline to get ready for that. Other than Morris and Motiejunas, rookie you're most excited about or a player no one is talking about that you are excited about? Motiejunas will stay in Europe. He recently set the all time rebounding record for Euroleague, which is the best league outside the NBA. We're excited about him but Rocket fans will have to wait on him. I think I'll dodge your question. We're really interested in what those lottery picks can bring us. We have 4 from the 09 lottery. Those guys will get a chance to show, not all of them will because not enough minutes, but whichever one shows they can help us win, they absolutely have the talent to help the Rockets.
He dodged the question about setting the team back three years and certainly looks like a move is coming today or tomorrow.
It's very easy to see how this screw things up so badly. If you look at all their plans for improving the team, they're 99% likely to fail. Gasol was going to be matched regardless. Nene would not sign here without breaking the bank. We knew NO wouldn't trade CP3 to us for our package. I feel the pro-tanking crowd should be even more pissed at Stern for this than those who prefer to improve. If Morey had gone through his choices and realize there's no way to improve the team, we might've started to trade away veterans even before FA started. For example, the Bulls might've been a trade partner for KMart or Lee. Some playoff team over the cap may agree to a S&T with Chuck Hayes. That sort of thing. But because the Gasol trade impacted the entire team, everything else had to put on hold to see how it shakes out. And now Morey's very late to the game, and other teams have already sought out other options to fill their needs.
