definitely agree about ajax those two disallowed goals were onside. am loving the ugly manchester twins going out. don't think arsenal can win it all but still makes it sweeter.

Manchester City won convincingly over Bayern's B team. I started watching the Napoli vs. Villareal game as soon as ManCity went up 1-0. But by watching that game it became quite obvious that Napoli at some point would break through. Villareal were missing a majority of their core and I don't think they are as bad as they appeared.

Overall, sucks to see one of the top teams drop out of the tournament like that, I would have loved to see how ManCity compares to Real or Barca. I think all they need is a top notch left back and central defender. It's scary cause Nasri hasn't exactly even settled in yet, once him and Silva are on the same page it'll be quite the tandem. IMO Mancini messed up on how he approached the Champions league, he treated it like any other Premier league game and that was why MAnCity are exiting. He should have got his team to play more conservatively especially from his left & right back, he left them open to the counter attack way too often.

I don't even think that's necessary. I think they're ready to compete right now. As much as it delighted me to see them knocked out along with United, a part of me feels bad because THEY came to play properly in Europe this season while United and SAF did not and the result was what we saw today.

    DISGUSTED

You all should have a look at the front page of this dutch paper

    http://www.ad.nl/

My Ajax mates are incensed after the way both Ajax-RM and DZ-Lyon went and understandably so.

Arno can probably discuss more on this but there is no f#cking way Lyon put 7 past Zagreb. Lyon are a decent side as always but they aren't that better than D.Zagreb except when the Croatian side in this case decides to lay down and take it like that.

It's a suspicious result and coupled with the horrible goal decisions by the officiating crew in Amsterdam, some investigating should go on.

Then again, the head of UEFA is Michel Platini. A part of him must be tickled to have another French team through, along with O. Marseille. Helps the French UEFA co-efficient going forward.

obviously they did not come to play as they are not in the competition anymore. I'm joking just love the billionaire ***** getting knocked out but if I had to choose only one of the two getting knocked out it would still be united because of the look SAF had on his face at full time. Priceless.

I'm disappointed with Bayern for not even trying to pretend that we cared about this game. I flew all the way to Manchester and that is what we got...

Lets not act like your B team didn't try, the talent difference was immense, Bayern had little to no chance.

Yeah, we only didn't play Neuer, Schweinsteiger (injured), Lahm, Kroos, Robben, Ribery, Mueller, Gomez.

That's like the core of the German national team, plus arguably the best players from the Dutch and French team, respectively.

Anytime you play Pranjic means you really do not want to win...I cringe every time the guy sets foot on the floor. And Luis Gustavo played like he really didn't want to be there. The rest of the Bayern team...yeah, they tried...kind of...but you could tell they were already qualified and knew the outcome of the game would not make any difference at all. Disappointing.

Silva is an awesome player...and Dzeko really is very good. Nasri is also a good player. The rest...meh. They probably would not play on Bayern. Maybe Kompany.

Haha, wow I didn't realize you guys had Pranjic and Gustavo in the squad. I remember when they were at Hoffenheim after promotion. There were high hopes for Gustavo iirc but not so much Pranjic.

But come on you knew the B team would be out there and there'd be a good chance they wouldn't come to play properly right?

I had booked my trip before it was clear that Bayern would already be qualified ;).

(Pranjic didn't play at Hoffenheim. He came from Holland; van Gaal brought him in. He's a 2nd division player at best, in my opinion. Gustavo is a national team player for Brazil, but he is in a total slump right now.)

The only part of the argument that matters is that Bayern qualified and City didn't. Yes they were better on the night but I believe if they played their A team Bayern would smash city.

I was on vacation in South Africa, so i missed the game. I was shocked when i heard the news.

it really is a suspicious result.
I have to say that both Ajax goals were close to being offside (they weren't offside but I can understand the mistake the linesman made). I do not think the linesman was bribed.

The lyon game on the other hand is more suspisious. Lyon was terrible this entire group stage. And ofcourse Zagreb had nothing to play for, but still 1-7 is unbelievable. it is obvious that Zagreb didn't care, i'm do not know if they were paid.

The funny thing is that Pranjic was actually a pretty decent player (for the dutch league standard, but that says enough about the dutch league)when he played for Heerenveen. Ofcourse he was not good enough for a great team like Bayern. It was one of the strange transfers Van Gaal made.

I sucks for Villa and looking at the replay made me cringe. Let's hope for the best and pray he'll be ok after rehab. I have tons of faith in Alexis.

BTW, Barca v Santos on Sunday!

We get to look at next year's new forward for Barca, Naymar ;)

You haven't seen him? You're in for a treat.
