So I was listening to 610 and they were saying how the rockets to deal to hornets was better and I just can't see it at all. For a rebuilding team this deal is wayyy better.

They might have been better in the short term with the rockets deal, but w/o cp3 they would struggle to make the 8th seed.

EG vs KM - Eric gordon is younger and cheaper.

Kaman vs Scola - Kaman has one year left and they may be able to flip him for something

Min 1 pick - This is going to be in the lottery.

If the Hornets play bad they will have 2 no 1 pick in a good draft+ a lot of cap space to sign someone. In two to three years they might be good.

If they had the rockets they would have been stuck in treadmill of mediocrity like the rockets.

    It isn't close.

Eric Gordon is younger and has a higher upside than Kevin Martin even though I would take Martin (BARELY) if I had a game tomorrow.

Minnesota pick will probably be top 5 in a very good draft. Hornets will probably have 2 lottery picks and Eric Gordon.

Ha, yea the only people who would be so delusional to think the rockets had a better offer are homers. Lets face it, Morey miscalculated his 'assets'. He does find low priced solid contributors which he is talented at doing. But to think that they are good enough to get a star when all teams want a star or star potential in return is not realistic. Kevin Martin is a good scorer, but he is already 28 and not good for a rebuilding team and still not a cornerstone guy, but a specialty scorer to playoff someone. Scola is an effective, albeit 31 year old solid PF. He is not great defensively and has no potential to grow into something more-not what hornets could use right now.

On the other hand, they got an even better scorer who is younger and has more star potential in Eric gordon. They got a lottery pick with potential in Aminu. they got a lottery pick possible in one of the best drafts in recent years so another potential star too. They got a previous all star center who will be serviceable and holds value to veteran squads. The hornets did better than the Nuggets did with Melo and they held out and got solid value for a guy who was going to leave anyway.

Depends on which team you're talking about.

I still like the Rockets INITIAL deal. I still dream about a Gasol and Nene front court...

Dell Demps wasn't trying to tank. You know, like Daryl Morey wasn't trying to tank. Just because Rockets fans want to tank every year when a team isn't a championship team doesn't mean managements wish the same thing. We complain that Les isn't willing to bite the bullet and have season(s) of empty Toyota center. Demps probably didn't want a fledging franchise in NO lose the few fans they had.

But can't you argue that more people will want to watch a young exciting team and Eric Gordon trumps all of that.

Eric Gordon, if featured offensively, will be a superstar.

With Roy retired, he is top 3 SG in the league.

    Clippers by far.

Gordon is better than any player the Rockets have. Plus he's not even in his mid 20's.

For a rebuilding team that may be sold soon? The clippers deal was way better. Young potential star, unprotected pick (potentially very high), plus saving money is way better than 2 expensive, 30 year old semi-stars, on long contracts.

Clippers is better, but it's irrelevant. I'm sure if Stern had shut down the Pau Gasol trade, Memphis could have gotten a better offer.

Gordon is a top 3 SG in this league.

    Clips deal, hands down.

At 22, Gordon's one of the most promising young guards in the NBA. He's shown steady improvement during each of his 4 years in the league.

Clips deal is much better. Case closed.

Clips also got what they want. Now they have 2 superstars = top 3-4 team in the West EASY.

No, he isn't. Not yet. And Gordon is from my perspective that "Can be an All-Star, but your team is freaking screwed if he's your top dude." level.

So like a younger Kevin Martin, then?

Only if ticket-buying fans are all hardcore fans who actually visit internet message boards willing to talk about teams other than their own.

Better defense. Like I said, I'm not disputing the Clippers offer is better. Doesn't mean I still wouldn't hesitate to assault Stern if I met him on the street.

You are all forgetting Dragic and Odom.

    The LA-Hou-NO trade was better.

Clips added CP3, Billups & Caron Butler to Griffin/Jordan frontcourt in 5 days. More will follow. Highly doubt they care that they overpaid.

Irrelevant question to me. Rockets got the deal done first.
