Could the '85 bears: (Singletary, Dent, Perry, Otis Wilson, Frazier) stop the 2011 Aaron Rodgers: Jennings, Nelson, Driver, James jones, Randall Cobb, Jermichael Finley.

    Who you got?

The rules have changed so much you really can't compare qb stats from back then. Its trying to compare a mlb hitter now to back in the steroid era.

Marino ate the Bears alive that year and Rogers is playing better than him and with rule that favor offense.

These are the teams that beat the Bears from 85-89. Remember, Chicago had pretty good defense, since 84. But, where at their peak in 85 and 86.

    1985 Miami Dolphins
    1986 Minnesota Vikings
    1986 Los Angeles Rams
    1986 Washington Redskins (playoffs)
    1987 Denver Broncos
    1987 New York Jets
    1987 San Francisco 49ers
    1987 Seattle Seahawks
    1987 Washington Redskins (playoffs)
    1988 Minnesota Vikings (swept)
    1988 Los Angeles Rams
    1988 New England Patriots
1988 San Francisco 49ers (playoffs) - Sidenote, the Niners also beat them in 84 playoffs

Most (not all) of them have something in common, or similar.

With all that being said,as far as sacks go, there has never been a modern team that could get after the QB, like they did.

    72 sacks - 84
    64 sacks - 85
    62 sacks - 86
    72 sacks - 87
    43 sacks - 88

That Bears team would eat the Packers O-line for breakfast and disrupt Rodgers like no team he's ever faced.

It's interesting to note what they'd do, they could either stick to their core "blitz 1 more guy than in protection/46" philosophy or they could do what Ryan's Eagles teams did against Warren Moon Oiilers (use your front 4 to get pressure, play a short zone and then use Seth Joyner to murder the receivers over the middle.

Is that the same 46 he ran IN Houston?

It also depends on which team Aaron Rodgers is playing with, 1985 Packers or the 2011 Packers.

Without Ditka as Coach: 20-14 Bears.

With Ditka as Coach: 103- 3 Bears.

    [3 weeks left to go]

The 2007 Giants very good defense stopped the last historic pass crazy UNDEFEATED Patriots team.

The '85 Bears also had maybe the greatest running back ever to have clock management over Rodgers.

    Historic Rodgers vs Historic D
    Historic Payton vs mediocre D

Jim McMahon could play the "Eli" role.

I like the '85 Bears chances.

Rodgers' ability to scramble out and throw on the run vs a 46 scheme leaving a safety to cover Jermichael Finley?

    Forget about it.

    Packers win by 7.

Packers would beg for mercy against that Bears defense.

Gary Fencik and Doug Plank would knock Finley out of the game in the 1st quarter....
