I see the "Annual Pet Player of the Year" postathon is in full swing, co-hosted this year by coachbadlee. Prepare for the constant drumbeat repeating the same bullet points on an endless loop that will make even those of us rooting for Hasheem to give up on him simply to make it stop. Just dial it back a notch.
I guess people are weak minded enough to let someone's passion about the Rockets ruin it for them, eh? But I hear ya...I do like to see young players get a shot, especially when our team is basically going nowhere...... DD
And I'm with you on Thabeet, just not ready to give him anything he has not earned on the practice floor or in a game.
Can't help it. The guy has too much potential to be labeled a bust in not even his third season. I mean, come on guys, Darko Milicic????Kwame Brown???
I'll admit, it took them way longer than it should have to be where they are at currently, but no i wouldn't consider them as busts. They are still producing at decent levels in the NBA. One just signed a pretty good deal for the Warriors.
Sorry. Another thing i can tell you about Thabeet. If you start him now, he will immediately(like this season)be recognized for his shotblocking. You can bet that.
He played for Jim Calhoun for three years. You really want to blame coaching? Do me a favor: Name one good center who was drafted out of college, and wasn't a rotation player by year 2. In NBA history. Name one. You're dodging the question. Would you be making all kinds of excuses for Hasheem if the guy had been drafted by the Rockets with the 2nd overall pick. Nothing as long as you realize it's irrational. **** off with the presumptuous 'people like you' crap. If he gets minutes that another player is more deserving of, you're hurting the team and you're hurting the confidence of whoever's playing behind him, all for the sake of kicking the tires on a guy who's almost surely a complete bust.
Come on. Now you're just reaching. Is the first pick and second pick of the NBA draft expected to average less than 8 points and 5 rebounds throughout their career?
Yes, that is what I am saying according the piece that was written last year when we got him and CD was tutoring him it was talked about that Calhoun stuck him in the middle of the rim and said "protect it".....I don't believe he got the attention there he needed. Jermaine O'neal played PF and center. But I am not sure how that is relevent, everyone has different circumstances and obsticles to playing time. I don't know, maybe if he had not gotten a decent opportunity. Is it presumption to assume that people have made up there minds about a guy after having watched him play 2 minutes in 2 games? Because if they watched the Grizzlies games when he was getting time as a rookie when Gasol was injured, they would see a player performing pretty well at a position we need. We have only 1 center, there is no one more deserving of playing center, than a center. If anyone else is playing center, we are kidding ourselves. DD
Honestly - Let's be realistic - The Dude was sent down to the D League in his rookie year after being drafted #2 and a year later he gets traded to the Rockets for a Slinky and a Rubick's Cube - I understand we took a flyer - but to think this guy could really end up a starter EVER in this league is far fetched. If he can spell a legit Center for 12 minutes/game without Going too Minus on us - then we consider this experiment a success. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer here - But just a realist - who has seen a body of work that is extremely pathetic at best. Don't mean I won't keep hoping for the best for him . . .
If you are really concerned about his development, you should be talking bout us getting an NBA ready center to show him the game, and let him backup. You cannot throw this guy into raging fire.
