Rip hasn't accepted the deal yet. It's only a 2yr deal. If Asik takes the 1yr qualifying offer he'll be an unrestricted free agent and not bound by the Gilbert Arenas rule where he can't sign for more than the MLE. Knowing what Kwame and DeAndre got this free agency. The QO must be an option he will strongly consider.
Centers got paid, period. It pays to be tall.....that's a skill you cant learn and its finally showing. No overpaid.
How you perceive it doesn't matter. It's about the Bulls being in the worst position if he opts to take the QO next year. He'll become unrestricted in the FA that follows. Usually teams bet on players to choose security but this FA gives Asik real incentive not to.
