I agree, let's totally give Thabeet 20 minutes of undeserved playing time and hope that he actually pans instead of wasting 20 mins per game that could have been better used developing a player who has shown to be more productive.

If he still sucks when given 20 minutes of playing time, it's obviously because it's a 66 game season. Next season we should give him 30 minutes of playing time because 20 minutes is obviously not enough time for him to learn the game.

Thabeet should keep getting 30 minutes of playing time until he becomes an average player, no matter how long it takes or how many games we lose.

PPat, we all know you work hard and has demonstrated potential, but you should be benched. Thabeet is one of the best shotblockers in college, he deserves to start ahead of you.

Thabeet is a CENTER - the only CENTER on the team.

He isn't even a Basketball player let alone a center.

the problem is he's really a shooting guard ;)

McHale asks bigs to pick rep to knock down 3 for chance to avoid sprints. Eager Samhan chosen, misses. Thabeet promptly steps up, drains it

No, we are not a basketball players, Hasheem is getting paid to be one.

Honestly it comes down to the same old argument - develop vs win now.

Some of us would rather develop players this year than worry about wins.....

    Longer view vs short term.

    Same argument different topic.

That about says it all for this team right now.

After the failed trade and losing Chuck in the process and losing out on Nene, I am of the opinion that we might as well run Hasheem out there and let him foul out and let the lottery happen. Unless a substantial trade mat that totally changes the dynamic of our team.

I'm all in for "Developing young TALENTED players" and Thabeet is not talented. He's Tall and...he's tall but that's about it.

I would never want players who work harder, play tougher and actually "get it" to have to sit on a bench watching this tall guy lollygag on the court just because he has a guaranteed contract and happens to be really tall.

It's unfair and THAT is how you breed a culture of losing. Play the kids who deserve it!

He isn't entitled to any minutes on this team. If he doesn't earn them he shouldn't get them.

I have no problem with Thabeet playing, but I have a lot of problem with Thabeet starting and GIVEN playing time ahead of other rookies and prospects.

This is the current argument here, to give Thabeet 20 mins of playing time which he did not earn.

He doesn't deserve that over Hill, Patterson, and at this point not even over the camp fodders (who are all equally young).

If we're going by the idea of developing young players. Sure, we can do that.

This IS the perfect opportunity for our young players to compete against each other for that one spot. This IS about the best player coming out on top and getting the most minutes and the starting spot.

What this shouldn't be about is giving Thabeet the starting spot and a reserved 20 mins per game simply because he apparently has potential that could only be unlocked through 20 mins of playing time.

I know it is bizzare, like any of the other players on the roster are tall enough or big enough to bang with other centers.

We have one...ONE on the roster, and that is Thabeet....the rest of the guys are just not big enough of strong enough.....nor are they Chuck Hayes enough.

    Chuck Hayes.

    Patrick Patterson.

Patterson, like Chuck Hayes. Very similar.

Patterson, showed potential on the court, not potential from knowing 5 languages.

You should be ashamed. Not even wanting to give the guy a chance.

Some guys around here have no patience and leap to conclusions based upon very little data.

They might be right here though, Hasheem may never get it, but at his size and athleticism, and intelligence, and our situation as an organization, we would be FOOLS to not try to develop him.

7 foot 3 inch athletes do not come around very often....they should do everything they can to coach him up.....got to try, if not, they are failing as an organization......

I'm with you. Let's all get something crystal clear right now. Jordan Hill is not a center. He just plays one on t.v..;)

The fact that he's 7'3", 282lbs with <5% bodyfat, at a time when guys like DeAndre Jordan are signing $40MM contracts, and is STILL being sent to the DLeague... I'm sorry, but that by itself is data. It says a lot.

If you want to talk yourself into his potential because we have no other alternatives, fine. But don't call others unreasonable for actually having rational expectations.

We have one NBA center on the roster.

Hasheem Thabeet, the rest are all either camp fodder, or PFs.....

None of the following can guard Andrew Bynum, Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez, etc..etc..etc...

    PPat
    Jhill
    Scola
    Morris

None of them...and maybe Thabeet can't either.....but he is the only one that could bother a shot with his length.

It's only "radical" if we still had Chuckwagon. Beet is unproven just like all the other bigs. But since he is the tallest and have the biggest presence in the paint, starting him would be the most "logical" thing to do in Rockets current situation.
