Based on his size and potential, I'm as hopeful for ThaBeet making an impact as anyone, but those of you pumping him up into the reincarnation of Hakeem Mutombo Jabbar are not doing yourselves any favors in the credibility department. In fact, it seems counter productive in light of the prevailing all-or-nothing no-shades-of-gray attitudes with so many on the board. It is a known fact that big men take longer to develop and let's hope that Hasheem makes some positive strides in meeting the potential of a former #2. After all, this is his first full season with us and we haven't seen enough of him to make a full evaluation; good or bad. That said, based on what we have seen so far, let's not insult everyone's intelligence by proclaiming him ready to contribute yet.

IMO, considering the centers (Smith/Samhan) he has signed, Morey is going with Thabeet and Hill. Marc Gasol, Jordan, Chandler, Foster and Nene have signed, and Dwight Howard has named the four teams he will consider (and the Rocks aren't one of them). Dalembert and Fesenko are the only FAs left or we could trade for Chris Kaman or Biedrins. Those possibilities are gradually slipping away. So, it seems, Thabeet is now the center of attention.

Plus in almost every video with Mchale he brings up height no matter what he is talking about so I think even if Thabeet is not the starter he is going to get a lot of minutes
He does bring up height as being really important, probably because it was important to him, I wonder if he values height more than any other trait like for instance athleticism, because McHale was by no stretch a good athlete. DD
