Austin Burton: Nene, T.Chandler, M.Gasol, D.Jordan, G.Oden = $235 million in contracts, 0 All-Star Games. Glad the NBA was able to fix that broken system

Big men. If 5 guards got that money, complain.

Big men in the NBA are like left hand pitchers.

It is why I wanted a hard cap, a franchise tag, and a better system.......too bad the NBA caved in....should have lost the year to fix it.

A hard cap wouldn't keep semi-competent big men from getting big paydays. They cost that much because it's important to have size in the middle.

Wouldn't be a fanbase to come back to if they'd lost the season in my opinion. The smarter thing to do is to gradually change the system into what the owners want (hard cap). They got some of their demands this cba. Get the rest, the next. That way, America hasn't said, "**** the NBA and both sides are idiots." Actually have something to come back to after fighting for all that. That's just me.

Yep, there is really no other way to achieve competative balance. Hard cap, with a salary floor and a way for a team to keep a guy for a few years. Makes a sign and trade actually good for the trader because with a tag you can actually have a reason to pony up. You could also make a more flexable minimum salary that says stud FA's cant sign for vet minimum. With endoursments, LBJ didn't need a freaking contract. Just a broken system that is truly on the cusp of becoming unwatchable save for 5 teams.
