If we don't trade for a decent center, or sign either dalembert or nene, TANK...screw all the other free agent centers, unless there gonna be back ups for a center we trade for forget about it, waste of cap space.

Wouldn't mind seeing Thabeet at starting center. Might as well kick the tires on the guy and see what he can do. Hopefully worst case scenario he ends up being a serviceable back up. I kinda want to see Buddinger and Williams battle it out for the starting SF spot. T Will has "A LOT OF UPSIDE", but he has got to want it. He has all the tools to be a good player in this league. Thanks to Clutch we have been able to see videos of Terrence Williams improvement. Seems that he has worked on his shooting a bit so lets hope that translates to more makes in actual games. Call me crazy but I think we make the playoffs this year! Maybe even as high as a 6th seed. These back to back to back games are going to be brutal for every team but exceptionally brutal for the older teams like the Celtics, Spurs, Lakers.

    Option # 1 Nene
    Option # 2 Dalembert
    Option #3 Fesenko
There is no point of saving cap room for this upcoming summer. Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard are not signing with Rockets even if we have all the cap room. It is better to go all out and sign Nene now. If he choose another team, then sign Dalembert for a multi year contract worth about 8 million per year. He can be a solid Defensive Center that can block and rebound.

As K-Mart said we went 17-5 at the end of last season, mainly in part to Lowry's improved play and a push for the playoffs. This year the Rockets will be competitive (but not championship contenders) and McHale wants a better defensive effort. If we don't get Delambert, Hill will start and Thabeet will back up, but I could see Samhan stealing time from Thabeet.

Scola and Lowry are very competitive, you can't have players like that in your squad and expect this team to tank, its not in there DNA. There are lot of bad teams out there, last year if we were in the east we would have been in the playoffs with ease.

Somewhere a little further and unexpected. From the land of Sean Marks.

I'm mystified as to what Morey's backup plan was, after the Nene / Pau thing, and the Dalembert thing (and maybe the Marc Gasol thing was a thing, though it seems more like pushing Memphis off the fence). If no Dalembert, we just go with what we have? Yeah, I guess we could trade for one, but that hasn't panned out the last few years.

Look at how Hasheem plays with more passion than he has shown here in Houston or in Memphis, I think it is purely a confidence issue.

The guy needs a shrink more than training to get to him...maybe a talk with Deke would help?

DD, you know better than to judge a player off of highlight reels against inferior competition. You're just setting yourself up to be disappointed (again). Thabeet's simply not an adequate offensive player at the NBA level. He hasn't shown an ability to adjust to the speed or the physicality, and he lacks polish on top of that. Plus, he wasn't that great offensively in college either. He was passive then, and he's passive now.

Even on defense, Calhoun just parked him in the paint at the bottom of a 2-3 zone and let him block shots, which the 3-second rule prevents from happening in the NBA. He's probably adequate defensively now, but I suspect the fouls will still be a huge problem.

Bottom line on Thabeet is that he was drafted way too high based strictly off his potential, and he hasn't lived up to it yet. Personally, I don't see any reason to be optimistic that he ever will.

What he needs is hours and hours of time on the practice court, which he's not going to get in the shortened training camp and condensed season with fewer practices.

You can only second guess what he needs. Our situation is not the best fit for him. We would be good for him if he was able to put up numbers like the Chuckster. 10 points and 8 rbs. and couple of blocks
