Scouts and fans were not very high on Marc Gasol when his NBA career started and look where he is now. That trade with the Lakers doesn't look so lopsided in hindsight, does it? You have to find these players BEFORE they reach their potential so you can reap the benefits of their success whether that be on your team or using them as a centerpiece in a trade for a star. Signing Fesenko is a low risk, high reward move IMO. You sign him to a 1-2 year deal for relatively cheap money. If he pans out, you have a great center at a good price which is a hot commodity in the NBA these days. If he sucks you didn't invest a lot of money in him anyway, so you cut ties and move on.
Fesenko PER = 5.8 Thabeet PER = 4.7. Basically even if you add their PERs up it's still below average. Unless these guys improve dramatically, they are nothing but the 12th men on the roster.
It's like saying the Hasheem is the next Hakeem cause both of them are big, they names are the similar and he is from Africa too
Not on our roster they aren't...their PER would go up because their playing time would go up, from garbage to playing meaningful minutes....which means better players around them and an increased PER. DD
Nothing like a string of total, utter, complete failures to temper the hopes of a desperate franchise and fan base.
