Trade Kevin Martin and Jordan Hill for Al Jefferson Sign Reggie Williams Trade Scola and Chase Budinger for Gerald Wallace Lowry/Dragic Lee/Williams Wallace/Williams Patterson/Morris Jefferson/Thabeet
He's also historically been a better rebounder per 36 minutes than Scola (and was last year). So he's got Scola's scoring plus is a better rebounder and shot-blocker.... ...Um, isn't that awesome? The injury history remains a concern, but he's played in 82 games 2 of the last 4 years and 76 games one of the other years. With Kanter, Favors and Millsap, the Jazz may be able to let Jefferson go for the right deal. But Kanter and Favors are too young. Kevin Martin would immediately be their best backcourt player, seems like a great Utah guy (if that is still applicable post Sloan), and would be a great mentor for Alec Burks. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat. Al has put up better than 19 PER in each of the last 5 seasons. He's not quite Pau Gasol pre-Lakers, but he's close.
Go for it, what do we have to lose? Les has been adament that we aren't gonna lose games and the playoffs are the ultimate goal. Morey, even though might want to get a high draft pick, can only do what his boss tell him to and we as fans have to accept that. Plus Jefferson did pretty well under McHale.
Nah. Good. Despite his ability to block shots he's still a fairly ineffective defender, and like Scola his efficiency isn't on par with other good scoring bigs because of his relative inability to get opposing bigs in foul trouble and get to the FT line. And when the ball comes to him, it doesn't get kicked back out. I think we'd be a better offensive team with Martin and Scola than we would be with Jefferson and Scola. I'd certainly take him over Luis, but I don't think trading Martin to get him makes us better.
valid points. I'd argue at least Jefferson gives you something defensively (as opposed to Martin)... but I understand the advanced stats point to him as a bad overall defensive players.
I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing him in a salary dump situation, or maybe a three-team trade that also landed us a young, defensive big for Martin and Scola. I may or may not play with the trade machine a bit.
Give me one reason why Portland would take Scola when they have Aldridge. you post too much btw it's getting DDish
