The only reason that Lin and Williams were "let go" by the Warriors was because it was necessary in order to extend the offer sheet to DeAndre Jordan. Golden State was hoping to load up as large an offer as they thought reasonably possible so that the Clippers wouldn't match. Unfortunately for the Warriors, the Clippers DID match. Now, they are without two players they actually really liked. Much like if the Rockets amnesty waived Hasheem Thabeet in order to sign Nene, I don't think it would be an indictment of any other NBA team if they subsequently added Thabeet to their roster.
Do you think Morey said "Bah, forget the center position, let's get a sg instead"? I'm sure the center discussion is top priority.
It makes sense for Williams (though his QO was only about $1m, so it's not like his cap hold was that large). There was other maneuvering GS could have done, and they really didn't do much to even attempt to keep him around. I would've guessed they'd do a bit more to keep a guy they "really liked". However, for Lin -- he's a minimum salary player, and Warriors have well under 12 players on the roster. Unless the CBA has changed, I'm not sure there was need to waive him for cap reasons.
I agree with some of the other members.....what do we need him for ? Sure he's a serviceable player but at the end of the day we are fine at the 2.
Roster charge is the ROOKIE minimum. Lin makes the one-year veteran's minimum. There was an almost $300k difference there that created additional cap room. Keep in mind, the Rockets kept their LOTTERY PICK out of training camp for almost a week over the same amount of cap room.
The Rocket's have more assets since they have front and back racks....but they are nonetheless assets that no one seems to want to touch.
Two of those teams have no rings... Unless that big girl was sexy back in the day, but she had kids and got big. Getting that all-star = p90x.
Plus the Lakers chick is the second ugliest and the Grizzlies chick is the cutest. Which doesnt make sense.
I have been watching basketball long enough to make an educated opinion based on what i see on the film. The guy is stronger, and attacks the basket better than Bud does. Chase is good, but Williams is just a bit better than him. And no not anyone can be made to look good on highlight films, either a player has it or he doesn't. The guy averaged 10 points in 20 minutes of playing time on a team that features M Ellis, and S. Curry. Try and find some highlight reels that make Darko, or Kwame brown look like an allstar.
Do not know him. But if there're several team interested in him, my gut feeling says we won't get him based on our track record...
Ha Ha that pick up top was a crack up. Williams isnt half bad, He is definitely better then Jermaine Taylor. But is he better than Courtny Lee? Its puzzling, why are we looking at guys like Lin, Taylor and Willams? We have proven solid backups in Dragic and Lee.
