Thanks for posting this; it was, indeed an interesting story. FOR Some reason, all these years later, I rmr a story right around the time he was gonna get drafted about his Dad kinda being his own personal shooting/Bball coach for hours a day as Lin was growing up; that's actually what I was expecting to see when I clicked on your link.

Lin is our version of JJ Barea. What I do like about this Kid is he's scrappy, isn't shy of contact, and can finish at the rim. Good pickup IMO.

Instead of all this "ASIAN MARKET" stuff, why don't you guys realize why he picked up Linn. We obviously won't go into the season with 4 point guards...
Possibly Dragic/Flynn/??? Guard package to free up cap space. Instead of using the Amnesty on Thabeet... Maybe KMac has faith in the big guy. He did make it to the NBA for a reason and is still in it.

If you checked the twitter page of Stephen Curry and David Lee, both left positive messages for JLin7 after he was released. He is loved by teammates, so this isn't just about his skin color. Just waiting for a trade to happen.

Lin's contract is fully unguaranteed. A waived "make good" contract will count towards the cap as minor as that hit is. The Rockets have been preseving as much cap space as possible as they go all in for Nene.

In previous training camps, they had 4 pg/sg/sf/pf/c also. They just moved 1 or 2 of the training camp guys to the NBDL and waived the rest. It is very unlikey that they plan on giving backup minutes to training camp invitees that are straddling the line between the NBA and the NBDL.

It's great that you have optimism, but I don't see any teams clamoring for a trading package of 3 backup guards (dragic/flynn/??? guard package). It's unrealistic.

I like his game...I don't know how good he can be but a gorgan dragic type role is definitely not out of the question. I wouldn't mind moving flynn and dragic to create cap space for nene and retaining lynn and amnestying thabeet.

    Lowry/Lyyn
    Martin/ Lee
    Twill/Bud/Morris
    Scola/Patterson
    Nene/Hill

doubt it...could be wrong but I imagine there was a reason for the signing...hes actually really good. Obviously we dont need a PG but I defintely feel he could be a top back up. He does everything right.

you know that it's a bad season when you're biggest acquisition is Jeremy Lin (no offense to the kid, who I happen to like!)

We have 3 guaranteed contracts at that position already, unless one of them is moved there is no room.

Right now Lin is an extra body in training camp.

    Jeremy Lin is actually good.
He's not flashy, but he's solid.

Thanks, that is what I wanted to know about his contract situation. I am not interested in overpaying Nene though. I'm not implying that your statement regarding Nene states that you would want to pay him the max.

He is training camp fodder like the other non-guaranteed training camp invitees that come every year. If a GM wants to keep a player, they go guaranteed.

He could turn out to be like Von Wafer. Everyone overlooking him until he has a spectacular preseason game.

Thing with Lin is, he actually IS a pretty good pickup if we end up signing him.

A very very smart player (can never go wrong there), hard worker, quiet and humble. He's kind of the Chuck Hayes of PGs.

He lacks athleticism, but he has great size and is a top notched defender (much like Hayes, his defense is his greatest strength at the moment).

I'm certainly not hyping this kid up to be the next big thing, but you certainly can't go wrong with Lin. I'm confident that he could develop into a somewhat decent backup PG.

    He's also just 23.
