Houston Rockets have 4 Draft Picks in a loaded 2012 NBA Draft?

    2 First Rounders, and 2 Very High Second Rounders



    This is probably the best year too tank. ( 66 game season, probably wont win a championship).



    Do you realize how much talent stayed in college because of the uncertainity of this year's lockout. You are talking about possibly a Brad Beal at pick number 14, or Perry Jones in the late lottery, maybe even Meyers Leonard at number 17



    Plus great talent in the 2nd round as well



    Im so glad that trade did not go through



    Im also for moving Kevin Martin and Luis Scola, for more younger players and Cap Space.

    They could probably add an extra first if the trade K-Mart to Minny.

    Three first round picks in the 2012 draft, with one of them almost certainly being in the top ten, would go a long way towards turning the Rockets around.

    We don't have to tank as to prevent a loosing mentality :cool: . Just trade Martin for picks. Start the Squid at the 2 and Morris at the 3. And let the chips fall where they may. If they suck, then great, we have a higher pick. If they are mediocer, then great, our young players get some much needed experience. If they are great, then great, because we are great!

    If it were up to me I'd go all in and sell everyone off for picks except Lowry and Patterson and just call up the entire Vipers squad.

    We could just have 2 2nd rounders. If we make the playoffs our 1st rounder goes to the Nets (aka lottery protected). If the Knicks end up with a top 5 pick, they keep theirs. Albeit, odds are we will have 2 picks, but stranger things have happened, and I doubt we add 4 rookies. We will probably include these in trades, or try to use them to move up in the draft.

    Hmmm... tank the season for a strong suite of rookies from the deep 2012 draft. That's a novel idea.

    Oh yeah, trade Martin to Minny for a first, then hope the first rounder will develop into a player as good as Martin.

    Someone correct me if my understanding is wrong, but the Rockets could have anywhere between 0 and 4 picks this draft without making a single trade or change (though it's unlikely).

    Conditions
    First Rounders
    - Houston's first round pick (goes to New Jersey if the Rockets make the playoffs) - coin toss
    - New York's first round pick (top 5-protected) - likely to come to Houston

    Second Rounders
    - Minnesota's second round pick (protected 55-60) - likely to come to Houston
    - Houston's second round pick (goes to Detroit in Chase Budinger trade if 41-60) - coin toss

    Based on this, the difference between being an 8th seed and being terrible would be huge...I hate to admit it, but I would be in favor of getting the worst record in the league this season...that could get us a no. 1 pick and another good 1st round pick...
