    It's how restricted FA is supposed to work. The Rockets used the same advantage to retain Landry, Scola and Lowry.

    But the Rockets never offered Gasol a deal and he didn't sign it.

    This was an extension presented by the Grizzlies that he signed. So much for rumors that he wanted to leave.

    Grizzlies are going to be about 15 million into the luxury tax. Pretty steep for an organization that has trouble filling the seats.

    They have a solid PG, an All-Star caliber big in Randolph, an All-Star caliber guard in Gay, and an All-Star potential center in Gasol. I would say they are definitely more desirable than the Rockets.

    LOL reminds me of the Clippers before it all fell apart. They had an allstar caliber big in Elton Brand, an all star caliber guard in Maggette, and an all star potential C in Kaman.

    The fact that the Grizz are in the luxury tax bodes well for them being open to shipping Gasol in a SNT during the season. Gasol is extemely marginalized on that team even though he happens to be the best player, he's only averaging paltry numbers because Randolph and Gay are hogging all the shots leaving him with all the D. Last year there was already talk about how Gasol isn't as important to the team since he only ave. something like 10 and 7, I think there will be discussions about him being overpaid once they start losing and still have to pay the lux tax.

    I can think tens of millions of reasons why they are more desirable. When has Les shown the willingness to pay millions of dollars in luxury tax dollars just to win.
