Artest had elite lateral quickness as a younger player. He's never been that fast up and down the court, but side to side and staying in front of people, he was at one time one of the fastest people with his size and strength that I've ever seen. His lateral quickness to size and strength comparison was similar to LeBron's. On the other hand this is precisely the area that might keep Morris from succeeding at the 3. I'm not saying it will mind you...he could very well have a career like Big Dog Glenn Robinson, another strong, offensively skilled, outside shooting, skilled, but laterally slow SF.
I think everyone's expectations of Morris are way too high, simply because one poster praised him as the next Melo/Pierce. Morris has not demonstrated any of the guard skills that Melo and Pierce had from day one. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.
Even if Morris is laterally slow, I don't see how he could him being any slower in that aspect that Budinger. If he plays better than Budinger, that's automatically an upgrade since at this stage it seems like Morris is well developed in every facet of the game. That speaks a lot for a rookie.
There are some reports that say he is pretty fast in terms of lateral speed. He is not a great leaper, rebounder or lock down defender but he is not slow.
In the video clutch posted, his jumper form was nice but really slow, and he hardly elevated, it was almost a set shot. He won't be able to get that off against NBA players unless he can do a step back or someone like Lowry creates for him. DD
I can't wait to see Morris in action during the season! He seems to be very soft spoken, and does not seem to have a huge ego.

I can't wait to see Morris in action. I wonder if we send him to RVG for a few or do we put him into the rotation right away.
wow whats with the heartfelt twill hate? thats a serious diss to him to have him behind a rookie who aint played a lick of pro all and guy houston just signed who was a journeyman that bounced around different leagues?? i mean i really like morris and all but seriously people the blind hate is getting crazy
Not a fan. Looks really really slow. Trying to keep a non-judgmental attitude until the first game though.
I feel like Morris is going to be really good one day. I just don't know how good. He has balanced offensive game and I feel like he has that defensive tenacity.
cause he's practicing. sheesh... it's like some of you guys have never played basketball or participated in a basketball practice. the next time I see a guy at the courts shooting on his own the exact same way he does it in the game will be the first.
Yeah, I understand it is practice etc, I wasn't concerned with the elevation so much as the slow release. DD
His shot is almost identical to Paul Pierce's. And I would say it is an extreme exaggeration to say his jumper is "really slow"... The most important factor is the release point, not the speed to which it gets there. Rasheed Wallace, for instance...
