I can't believe I listened to all of that. Only 4 more days.

Anyways, I hated what one of the callers said about this trade making the Hornets worse. Lamar Odom is the oldest of the four players (turned 32 in November) and look what he did for the Lakers last season:
    14.4 PPG
    9 RPG
    53% FG, 38.2% from 3
    3 APG

All while averaging only 1.7 TO per game in 35 minutes. He relies on his length to rebound, and his ball handling skills aren't going anywhere. His contract is great for any team as long as he gives you 100%. Considering his contract is for $8.9 million this season with a team option of only $8.2 million next season he will play for that money if he wants to feed the beast.

Kevin Martin is only 28 years old! He's the 9th best scorer in this league ahead of Dirk. His contract expires one year after this season. $12 million this season, and I'd love to see what he will do to others teams in a contract year. His defense is a lot better than people give him credit for. He always steals one possession away from the other team, and he rarely fails on his gambles.

Scola doesn't rely on athleticism to score, defend, or rebound. He is a hustle player and all of his accomplishments come from hard work and practice. He's a great guy to have on your team.

Dragic is a spark plug off the bench and fits in well with these players.

To call this trade a bad for the Hornets is laughable. Especially after seeing what the Clippers were offering.

If the Lakers don't trade for Howard then the Odom trade was pointless right?

The Odom move was your classic salary dump.

Quite bizarre for a perennial contender.

They better know what they're doing.

I'm still trying to figure out how a team that's so over the cap can trade for an 8 million a year contract without giving anything in return and creating a TPE.

I guess I haven't familiarized myself with the new rules but I thought salaries had to match (or near match) with teams both over the cap.

They traded him for an existing trade exception the Mavericks had already.

The Lakers front office is falling apart. They get swept in one series and they decide scorch the earth.

Man, Stephen A. Smith is annoying. He's not saying anything you haven't heard before and he's yelling it out like he's telling some amazing truth

    This trade made ZERO sense.

I am still waiting for them to land Dwight or something, because that is the only way I could understand the deal being done to a rival contender in the same conference.

The icing on the cake is that he went to a rival.

If the Lakers want to do damage control they need to talk to the Clippers and offer to absorb Mo Williams' contract in the event the CP3 trade happens.

CP3 + Billups leaves little need for Mo.

And we all know the Lakers have needed a PG upgrade for 5+ years now.

With Chauncey on board, the Clippers are expected to waive Mo Williams if they get CP3. Odom's departure magnifies the Lakers' need to get a starting PG.

When your team gets swept in the playoffs you are not going to keep the core together, even if you are dumping salary.
