The problem is the PF and the SG positions are both not exactly the most valued positions in the NBA. There's a lot of depth around the league here. A center of similar caliber would be 100 times more likely to be traded for good draft pick.

Disappointing if true. I can't ever remember a time where the Rockets were totally shut out pertaining to FA's or trades. What is the cause? Morey not do himself any favors by openly referring to players as assets? Has Morey burnt bridges by seemingly fleecing teams in other deals? I'm at a loss.

Yes Stern killed the Rockets chances at at least two very good players, so the above is more frustration on my part, I guess.

Everyone says tank, but yet everyone loves Luis Scola...Do you honestly think players who play with heart (Lowry and Scola) would try to lose?

We are still a good team. Good enough for the 9th seed in the west and 14th pick in the draft.

How do you know there's no fall back? I think its obvious Morey had or has several trade scenarios which could benefit this Rockets team. First, trying to hop on the 3-team trade w/ New Orleans and the Lakers then going after Pau's brother. I don't think Morey is done yet!

Marc Stein's twitter makes me feel a little more hopeful about the Rockets sitch.

Next up, offer a formal contract to Nene. Worst case scenario he turns it down. May as well give it a shot. I would prefer they offer him a contract before Dalembert. Dalembert should be equal to like plan E or F.

martin has averaged 20 plus points with the rockets, is a excellent three point shooter, and very efficient player who does not demand a lot of shots ....

scola is a bruiser who gives you double doubles, has been THE guy on his olympic team which is top 3 in the world and has been a reliable scorer who can run the floor

i would not trade either on of these players for the underachieving overhyped lamar odom .. so what does it matter what lamar fetched?

14th pick is only good for one or two seasons but it has no future.
Cut Scola's minutes I would suggest

Dalembert it is. I would be ok with it at the right price.

There hasn't been franchise who turned it around in less than 5 years. People like to throw Tim Duncan around like every draft has a Duncan in it, but he's a once in a lifetime player. Also, the Spurs were kinda' cheating when they drafted him because they had a really good team, just so happened that the Admiral got injured that year.

It doesn't even matter what kind of pieces you get, Washington, Thunder, Chicago, all of them sucked for a long time even when they drafted Wall, KD and Rose.

Theoretically we can still trade for him and maybe Grizz will reconsider at the trade deadline.

My guess is that Morey is trying to dump a contract (Flynn?) to create the room necessary to sign Nene. The Rockets' current cap room (even with an amnestied Thabeet) isn't going to cut it.

With the Marc Gasol "saga" now closed, and with Orlando now looking like they'll hold onto Dwight for a little while longer, my guess is that Nene will sign pretty soon. Here's hoping that Morey can get his ducks in a row and make a real play for him.
