Fair enough. Moreys tried his best - now let him tank. Trade away Scola and Martin for young prospects and draft picks and try to get a top 10 or even top 5 pick.

Don`t lose games on purpose - just let the young guys develop.

Yes because teams will gladly give away unprotected picks and young prospects for Luis Scola and Kevin Martin.

Odom only fetched a crappy TPE and low 1st rounder.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

TBH I don't think we have the capspace.

The Gasol trade would have helped greatly, but not now.

    **** you Stern!

    sigh, that wont do anything
Trade Scola and Martin to Pacers for 1st round, George and expiring contracts James Posey and Brandon rush (and 1 dozen front row tickets to any and all playoff games).

That 1st rounder wont be worth much but an asset.

Tanking is bad for a franchise. It instills a losing culture that takes years to transform. See the wolves, they got good players but they are content with losing. I think love or someone was complaining after the lockeroom was heard to be laughing after a loss.

    - sure trade them for picks... but no rebuilding team (most likely the ones with high picks) wants these vets.

btw, many players have said that they want to build on the momentum from the second half of last season. If we make the playoffs, houston goes back on the map and a lot of our player's values go up. Players like tony allen and gasol have made a name for themselves and as one could see with gasol, there value goes up around the league

Play hard, make the playoffs, value up our players and if the team then wants to trade, our players will be worh a lot more

It depends on when a franchise gets a piece or pieces to build around with.

Well, teams like the Clippers (who are going in a win now mode) or the Celtics, who hold draft picks from other teams, might be willing. Scola and Martin are both on very reasonable contracts and are both real good players (Scola was 18 and 8 in 32 minutes last season; Martin was a legit 23 point scorer) that have some good years ahead of them. A team like OKC might be willing to let go of a player like Harden, heck maybe even Westbrook). Minnesota has some interesting young guys and Adelman would like to get Martin...

Odom was a disgruntled player who asked for a trade and cried on the phone about the business. And: the Lakers were desperate for cap space and first rounders. And: he is older and played in the league longer. And in the end, the deal was not that bad - clearing loads of cap space and getting a first rounder was pretty ideal for the Lakers.

    Don`t underestimate our players.

Why would the Clippers want oferpaid Martin when they have already have Butler and Gordon. Why would they want overpaid Scola when they have Griffin?

Stop being a homer, Martin and Scola won't fetch you anything.

I don`t think they should lose games on purpose - just let the young guys play. Let`s see if Thabeet can turn into a good player - let`s see if Patterson can take the next step. Let`s see what we have in Morris.

And it`s not right that tanking doesn`t lead to success... bad drafting doesn`t lead to success (and we seem to have one of the best at drafting). Small market teams only get to be a contender with at least one star level player they drafted (yeah, the Pistons did - but they really are the exception),

Apparently, everyone forgot that there is a trade deadline during the season. We have the right to start the season and change course if/when we don't like what is going down....absolutely no real reason to make moves now if you don't expect to sign someone. Which I think should be pretty obvious at this point that we can't.

In other words, don't get 75 cents on the dollar right now just because you want some moves. Let a team that is making a run need a Scola or Martin....

Martin is not overpaid (a 23 ppg scorer with ridicoulus efficency at 12 million per year?). Why would they want one of them? That`s easy: because they have a great team that is missing one or two pieces - and that is missing veteran leadership. Signing Billups might be huge for them, but he lost a step or two. A guy like Scola could work wonders.
