To me, overcoming injuries happens to a lot of teams . ...but to become this beast on defense by reinventing yourself has been most impressive . . .
All of the above, but the MOST impressive thing is the complete turn around of the defense. It's breathing fire!
Yep, doing it without Schaub. I think this proves the old adage about how football is won in the trenches. Our lines are freakin great.
While I think Shaub is a very good qb, the system leads to an easy transition. There are few progressions, a lot of movement, and play action that opens up a lot. I would say the defensive turnaround has been unreal. I thought we would be middle of the pack with Phillips, but from record setting last place to first has been special.
I think people who are now on the Kubiak bandwagon finally realize how great of an offensive mind he is. Our team is able to do what it does because of his blocking scheme (which leads to easier passes because of the play action). It worked when he was the OC in Denver, and Shannahan has struggled ever since losing him. It also shows the Kyle Shannahan wasn't the reason our offense has been great. The same can be said on the other side of the ball. The defensive players have said time and time again that Phillips makes it easy for them, thus their success. They can plug in anyone at any position without there being too much of a drop off because they can hit the ground running. The players have done tremendously this season of course, but much of the credit lies in the hands of the coaching.
Well Leinart got hurt after about two quarters, and he was doing OK up to that point. Did Grossman or Orlovsky even play in the regular season?
Even in preseason against the second stringers, I never had confidence in Leinart to throw the ball down the field (more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage). That's the one thing I noticed when Yates came into the game during preseason. He would always look down the field and at least attempted long passes. Leinart is the king of check down. It's unfortunate what happened to him but Yates is going to be the back up for sure until Schaub is relieved of his duties, which I do not see any time soon.
Houston offense is not designed for QBs to pussyfoot into the endzone with three yard completions. You gotta have balls.
Ditto they couldn't stop anybody last year from the hail mary and the Mark Sanchez 2:00 minute drill to the #1 defense in the NFL is unreal. Out of the options given I'd go Andre. Their offense is still ranked pretty high and Andres been a nonfactor most games.....
