I don't think they're too many people here that are upset at the organization or the players. We've taken a lot of pride in the fact that these guys play hard, unselfish basketball every night even when the deck has been stacked ridiculously against them. We are just ready for a change. The Yao era is over, the team as it stands may have a slightly higher ceiling but probably not enough to really get over the hump into contender status. This snub by the league just seems to sting because for better or worse it meant change. I think fans are just frustrated with what they percieve to be a rudderless team.
As I see it, the Rockets will be as enjoyable to watch as last year, if not better. Pauline may have gotten us slightly better, but I would rather watch the Rockets lose in an honorable/classy/hustling fashion than win with Gasol by flopping(and I do not mean the nice kind...but straight girly style...) That's how I see it, and I am very excited!
I just want to hear the Toyota Center PA Announcer yell,"It's Rockets Ball!" after a Kyle Lowery inbound steal. Then I'll be ok with whoever they put on the floor.
The missing part to this team is at Center. But the question now is with everything that has gone on in the lastweek can the team stay together and add a Center? Is it going to be hard for the players that were involved to stay or are we are going to have too break the team up like was the plan lastweek?
They will be better than I think? I think they will be an easy first round win for a superior opponent or end up with the 12th or so pick. If they are better than that, then they will have homecourt in the playoffs and win the first round and compete thereafter. Does anyone really believe that? Don't think so.
If this Gasol thing doesn't work out, I think we let TWill be the man, trade Scola, let Patterson develop, get a high draft pick and take couple years to find a center. Mediocrity is getting old.
I agree with you giddy, but we really need to land a center. It's going to be painful to watch this team on defense without a legit center.
We have master floppers on this team as well...it's all the same. LMAO @ "honorable" and "the nice kind" of flopping.
a 6'6'' guy(chuck) flopping may be acceptable in my opinion, but when you see a 7' tall girl flop, I may quit watching. I repeat, THAT'S MY OPINION and I do not care if anybody agrees or not with me...
I didn't say to stand pat. Dalembert or Nene are still options. Thabeet is still on the roster and that is the one thing that he should/could be good at. Seems to me that the roster is better than most are giving credit, though. As I said, I didn't like the Pau Gasol trade because, while he is a good/great player, we gave up too much to get him. I'd rather tweak the roster than to make wholesale changes. I've love for us to be able to steal away Marc Gasol but I'm not counting on it. The only franchises that "replace" stars overnight are located in the glamorous cities like LA or NY or now Miami. Cuban has had a revolving franchise in Dallas for years now and he finally hit upon the formula. Of course he was helped by Memphis bumping San Antonio out of the contest. Have either Dallas or San Antonio ever landed a huge free agent either? No.
I think after the Gasol(s) fiasco(s) blowing it up might be realistic from Morey's perspective. Thabeet is years away - enough years that Scola and Martin will be in decline by then. Might as well move them for youth and/or picks while they still have value. Keep Lowry, move Scola & Martin and this team will suck enough to get us a nice lottery pick for years to come which is what we need.
Of course they will be better than people think. They always are. Fans just want to shoot for the moon if they really care.
No they won't be...we will regress this year (barring a major trade) We lost a key clog in our starting line up and have nobody to replace him. We are still small, young and have a brand new coach. I see alot of losses in our future. I'd be surprised if we won 30 games tbh.
I just think some of you guys arent realistic with how our team is built. We are a bottom level talent right now. The only fans who think we have elite young talent are clutchfans. Outside you houston, most fans wouldnt be satisfied with Chase Budinger as our starting SF
Exactly...thanks DD. We just need some experienced size in the paint. But I'm afraid McHale is switching to a slower, half court offense. So what happened after the All Star break, likely won't be repeated if we slow everything down.
Of course I want them to tank a little by using our talented young players to develop them. That way our young talent is thought of more highly. All of these losing teams with young guys who have good stats on them. They all have worst records then us. What seperates the high value of their youth from ours who are on a winning team? Minutes played, stats, and shown progress. Even though they lose more than our young guys will. Thats because they are starting or playing major minutes on these losing teams. I want our young guys to have minutes to show what they have got. Just in case our older players cant take us to the playoffs or past the first round. People have this confused with tanking. I call it player development in a non title contender. That is what I want.
Why the heck are these youngsters on losing teams more valuable than ours on a winning team? People get to see them and their ability is why. Perception is the reason. I want to see Marcus Morris, Patterson, Budinger, Hill play major minutes.
Scola and kmart flop quite abit. If a 7 ft flopperr got you far in the playoffs, I'm sure it would be ONLY you who stopped watching.
