I don't see what the problem is. Everyone has the right to suck at their job, even if you sign a contract. If I were a GM I'd be happy I heard this before I spent money on him.

While I don't necessarily agree with how he said it, I don't fault the man for not wanting to play for a bad or rebuilding team so late in his career.

called being honest. i'd appreciate a straight forward employee than one who keeps his mouth shut all day "professionally" yet his lack of motivation shows up on the court. Buyer beware is a fair warning.

I blame him. There's a difference between looking out for your own best interests and coming off as a self-obsessed jackass.

These are athletes man. This guy is being paid 14 mil and he wants to say I'm not gonna try if you pick me up cuz I wanna play with the best players? He signed a contract to play in the NBA, if a team trades him it's part of the business and he has to accept those decisions and continue to play as close to a $14 million player as he can. The guy isn't injured, he's just old. Either retire or stfu and play. This league is starting to make me sick, millionaires whining all the damn time.

Honestly, I think Stern should fine him for making such comments. He just admitted that if he doesn't like where he is he will be giving up on his team. This is the NBA, they are PROFESSIONAL basketball players, act like it.

I doubt he cares to play for a self obsessed jack assed owner who doesn't care about winning.

He should do WHATEVER is in his best interests, he got Amnesty cut, he is a free agent in his mind.

All he is saying is "Buyer beware"....some owners might listen others might take that gamble.

Chauncey can give up his $14M to get out of his contract and play where he wants, right?

I remember Mike Bibby gave up his $6M when he got traded to the Wizards and wanted the chance to win a ring with the Heat.

There's no excuse for someone who's lucky to be making so much money to act so unprofessionally.

I'm not too familiar with the amnesty auction/bidding process, but it sounds like the teams just place an offer for the remainder of the years on his contract and if that's the highest then they are awarded that player. So why wouldn't some crappy team just put in a bid for the minimum, and either make him play for them or, if he retires like he says he will, it at least prevents him from going to another good team like the Heat or Lakers?

Chauncey Billups scheduled to clear waivers tonight at 6PM but hearing Bobcats considering bid for CB despite his "don't claim me" threats

Billups has threatened to retire if any cap-room team dares to put in bid before he clears waivers. But Michael Jordan is a gambler, no?

I hope Chauncey gets claimed so he has to put up or shut up. If his salary weren't a ridiculous $14 million, I might have some sympathy for him.

Some team should absolutely do this. I don't know if they could then trade him at the deadline, but if so, you also now have a nice trading chip to go get more useful talent. Meanwhile, NY will be paying his salary, so you lose nothing.

Isn't he sort of a chucker now? He used to be a good chucker, but I thought he had declined over the last few years.

That depends on what you consider a chucker. His fg% has always been awful but he's an excellent free throw and three point shooter so his true shooting percentage is pretty good.

Billups should be on his hands and knees thanking the Knicks for picking up his $14 million dollar option for the 2011-2012 season. Who else would've given him anything close to that this season? He's b****ing about getting $14 million for for free. So he gets cut, gets to keep all the money and go to any team he wants now.

    Why is he complaining?
