What Stern did is "blue sky bargaining" - it is when you bargain in bad faith by basically asking for the sky from the other party until he backs out. He should have merely exercised supervision and not control. In this case he exercised control over Demps and dictated the terms. Now with the Clippers he is backing off and merely exercising supervision by giving Demps autonomy to make a deal.
I've read damn near every single post since Friday and what astounds me the most is the COMPLETE lack of reading skills and the lack of reading previous posts.
Such a steep price. I think Morey should have said yes and waited for their next move... and then at that point back out just to see how full of it Stern was.
Dude I know like WTF. Did you read near the end of the article, I can't believe people aren't talking about that!!! I mean Morey agreeing to giving away all of our core is one thing, but giving away children is just way out of bounds. I don't think we should have someone like that managing our team!! Hopefully people will go back and read the article before posting now.
Some of you guys need to take a reading comprehension class, lol. Morey denied this trade proposal, this is the second trade proposal.

This is irrelevant, what is relevant is what they submitted the 2nd time to the NBA. They did agree on a different package so maybe someone besides Lowry was included (Patterson / Lee) ?
Man, this Demps guy definitely wants to rob any team who wants Paul. Jesus. Props to him. But reports say that Morey wanted this deal to go through???? WTH Morey? EDIT: oops read more. But still, this Demps guy is an awesome GM so far for what he is able to get with Paul. Most GMs never get anywhere close to full value for their star.
The Rockets GM is dumb if he sent 3 starters and 2 first rounder just for Pau Gasol. the dumbest trade I saw in Rockets' history. Luckily, it was not going through. Rockets is not that bad to do this stupid trade.
From media accounts, the trade deal was re-submitted to the league (or the team owner) for approval . The specifics were never publicized but Wojanowski of Yahoo Sports reported that the Rockets end was unchanged and the Lakers and Hornets were the ones negotiating the adjustments on their end. Then reports came out that the Lakers backed out of the deal apparently because of the hardline position of "New Orleans" or David Stern's evil twin brother concerning a certain point that was never really publicized. Some stated that the Lakers didn't know what the league wants. And now this thread is reporting that "New Orleans" or David Stern's evil twin brother actually wanted the Rockets to add Kyle Lowry to the deal which was a "non-starter" a "deal stopper" a "WTF GTFO" for Morey and the Rockets. Stern pointed a gun at Morey and asked him to give up his wallet. After Morey gave his wallet , Stern asked him to take off his clothes and his pants as well because he could probably sell it too. Morey said "enough is enough". So if we connect all the dots it is not only the Lakers who backed out of the deal as first reported, Houston likewise backed out after Stern asked them both to strip.
You and me both. I read the blurb today about Odom getting dealt to Dallas that made me have one of those "Am I dreaming or is it just Monday?" moments. Very bizarre. Hopefully, the untold story gets revealed.
It is worth it. A 3rd team with capspace can always get involved to make it work. I mean, this about what the rockets gave up to get mcgrady at the same point in his career. The chance to get paul and develop the young guys is enough to do the deal unless the front office thinks his knees are about to go out like roy. The guy I wouldn't want to see go the most is lowry, but he's no paul and isn't close. Neither of those guys are as good as paul and neither will those draft picks. Paul can bring you howard. Paul makes everyone better. I mean with ariza, belenellie, carl landry, okafor, and half of season of west, they made the playoffs. Minus paul, they look like a top lotto team. They even had ariza and emeka miss double digit games. Don't let anyone try to downplay how good paul is and that's why stern and the ownership wanted more. He is one of the 5 best players in the league and he's what, 25,26? The proposed deal they have with the clippers makes a lot of sense.
Not sure what's funnier, Stern/N.O's ridiculous counter proposal or the fact that some people here didn't read the article and assumed the Rockets were going to accept the deal on those terms. I think the latter.
