Count me in on that boat. I've always wanted this team to win first, but considering the circumstances... its time to make a major change. We're stuck on the treadmill if we stand pat. We're not winning a title from the 6th seed again anytime soon, and that's where we'll be. 6th seed. At best.
I think then you just realize that you are an adult probably smarter than the average bear and let the kids play in the sandbox while drinking an adult beverage....while nodding your head and thinking "They will get it as they grow up" DD
22-7, 15-8....meh....whatever.....either winning percentage would get them into the playoffs if sustained over the entire year. DD
And to you sir I say the team will be far worse than you're predicting. With no bigs and no defense, the other teams will run layup drills on us all night. TAKE THAT, good sir.
We have one of the biggest centers in the league. 7'3" 282 lbs 3.5% body fat Left handed shot blocker DD
signing Dalembert would go a long, long way in restoring my faith in this season. Our core is nice but without Chuck, we need a shot-blocker more than ever. His defensive presence with his quick hands and feet are going to kill us if we don't have someone at the rim to erase mistakes. A real shotblocker at C is also going to allow Patterson to become a weak-side shot-blocking beast.
Feeding on the tanking lottery bound teams no less. This team is 1st round 6th seed fodder at best and a 10th seed in the middle of the pack worst. No man lands. Just enough above .500 to age and do nothing but sell enough tickets to keep the franchise profitable.
I appreciate the positive tenor of the thread, but i'm not interested in being "better". I know the rockets are competitive with the roster they have. We have the talent and the depth to be competitive, but we are far from a contender. What i want is to turn the rudder of this ship in a direction of superstardom. We need to find a way to position ourselves to be contenders. That starts with aquiring a superstar talent. And since we are not likely to do that through the draft (no high lotto pick given our talent), we might have to overpay through a trade. What should have transpired this weekend would have put us on a path to be contenders, even if we have to take one step back in the process. I know Morey understands this, and i hope that he is not detered by the BS of this weekend. We still need to find a way to get an allstar. Dalambert is not going to do anything but hurt our salary cap flexibility and solidify our place as a better than average team. Are we better than people think with our current roster? Yes. Could we even remotely be considered contenders? Hell no. Are we even on a path to becoming contenders? No. The status quo is untenible and unacceptable. Morey has to continue to find ways to make a big move.
You honestly think Thabeet will pan out into something? The kid didn't know how to execute a basic post move! He clearly needs to be working harder. On that note, why is it you think the Rockets have been pursuing the Gasol brothers and NENE? It's because we don't have anyone working out down in the paint.
This is part of the reason I wished the Gasol trade would have went through... Having Pau at PF would have forced Rambis to play Thabeet at the C... I think he would have done great ... Thabeet would be a great defensive presence if he can play with a good PF...
Yeah, but that is not happening either....so we might as well wish for the best. And yes, I think Thabeet can develop into a servicable big man, he just needs people to explain what to do and coach him up..... DD
DD, I hope you are right. I absolutely do. I don't think the organization has high hope though if they are gutting the team to find a Center when we have a guy who is 7' 3", however I hope there is more going on than meets the eye and he pans out.
