If getting someone like dalembert is the only thing we do this off season i don't think being a "win now" team is a good option. Unless we sign somebody like marc or make a big trade, rebuilding is the way we should go.
I absolutely love what Williams brings to the table and I wouldn't trade him if we got him. It's a pipe dream, but I can see Kahn doing this. Ridnour/Rubio Martin/Wes Beasley/Webster Scola/Love Love/Darko Something like that. Thats basically our team last year on steroids.
That's a joke right? For one they both make too much and Minnieota doesn't even have any garbage contracts close to that size Secondly what GM would tank an entire season to get Kevin Martin and Luis Scola?
Minnesota is in a peculiar position. They don't have a pick this year so developing gets them jack. They just brought over their savior aka Rubio. Their fanbase has suffered through enough lotteries. They are the perfect team to trade a #2 pick. I just don't think KMart's enough. So some other pieces have to be involved. Perhaps a 3rd team to take on Scola's contract and give the Wolves a semi-decent center.
You are comparing him to a undersized PG with no defense, that already hit his peak??? Just in case you didn't know Beasley is a 6'10 SF that has just start to hit his stride last season. In a year or two he could be one of the best scorers in the whole NBA. He still has come close to his full potential.
Kahn has always been the most active guy to say on draft night that he wanted to get some more experienced players and had enough young ones.
And don't forget to include Budinger, the guy Adelman told Morey to hold on "no matter what"... LOL. I agree though, TWolves are a special case because of their pick next year, and especially because of Adelman and his favorites.
Minnesota shot down 10 different trade proposals from Morey for the #2 pick at draft night. Its not happening folks, just drop it. If Derrick Williams was going to be moved then it would have been during draft night, and he wasn't.
He's right though it more than likely a big pipe dream that we every get D-Will from the Wolves. Wes Johnson or Beasley would be the most realistic trade options with Randolph thrown in.
Of course it is a pipe dream, I never said it was probable. In the same token I don't see the Wolves having a great shot at Kevin Martin either.
Obviously its a pipe-dream. But then again, I doubt anyone thought we could of have landed Pau Gasol.
I've got a blockbuster for ya.. Martin+Buddy+Patterson for Randolph + Derrick Williams Patterson is the X factor here. Young player with a bright future and Rick knows it too. Would be sad to see him go but it's gonna cost some young talent to pick up Williams. Don't see R.A. being keen on Randolph and he would much rather have a guy like Chase. Wolves keep a young core with strong potential but give up their big-time potential players. Rockets roll the dice on some young guns.
1 for 2 deal. Still too many players on the roster without PT. Seriously we are the ones that need to get one or two quality players and give up role players.
