Do you think signing Marc Gasol to 4-years, $55M is a good deal for the Rockets?

I am pretty sure the offer was for 5 years and ~$62m. Ours would be 4 years and ~$54m Gasol is just looking for a 5 year $70m offer. It is about the moola.

That makes sense, I guess we should just move along. It's time to turn thabeet around.

This shortened free agency has been both insane and fun.
GMs have to complete their task in no time

Ouch. Just holding out some hope that the odom deal gets a draft pick to make the three team deal happen. Memphis matched, I get it.

All signs point to this being an internal struggle and negotiation between Memphis and Gasol.

Rockets offered 4 years 55 million which is the max they can. All things being equal, if they added a 5 year later at max, thats about 70 million.

Grizzlies offer is unknown other than that it is 5 years and larger than "any outside offer". So if they offered him 5 years 60 million, yes, its more than the Rockets offer in aggregate, but not really, if you factor in that fifth year.

A 5 year 60 million dollar deal from the Grizzlies is only 10 million first year, wheras ours is 13 million.

This reeks of Heisly being cheap, similar to the Xavier Henry situation. He would love to match the rockets sheet, because that 5 year is when things get really bad for them with Gay and Randopl both making near 20 mill per year. This is why Morey is not amnestying Thabeet and making an offer, because Heisly just matches and saves a bunch of money.

We can only hope, Heisly maintains his stance, won't sign Gasol to the five year max, and Gasol demands a trade or the QO.

Heisly wants Gasol to either accept his offer, or sign an offer sheet somewhere, so he doesn't have to pay Max. Gasol wants 5 years at max. Morey wants Gasol to get mad and demand a SnT or to tell Wallace not to match.

Without Odom it's done. I'd say it's pretty much done for the time being regardless and it's prob better that way.

This guy would transform our frontline bigtime. He is a beast on both sides of the ball. If we get him this would be a massive signing.I rather have him over Nene anyday of the week.

If you are going to tank then you are looking at 2-3 years minimum for player/team development. Plenty of time to eat through those bad contracts. The hope would be get 1 or 2 top 5 picks in 2012 to use on Sullinger/Lamb/Barnes/Drummond. One or two of them along with Lowrey and DMo and the future sure would look brighter.

I only have like 3 or 4 post not sure, but what is up with all this negativity? A starting line up of Lowry, Martin, whoever, Scola, and Gasol sounds pretty damn good to me.... Hopefully we can pull this off.... Way better than any starting lineup we have at this very moment.

There is very little chance of Gasol coming to Houston. Our defense still allows the opponents frequent lay up drills. The defense needs a complete overhaul. I personally expect Scola and Martin to be in the coaches dog house because of their obvious defensive deficiencies. If we can get a Gasol the future would certainly look brighter. PPat is developing and DMo possibly could be a future monster at PF/Center. If we don't get a Gasol then the upcoming season is almost certainly a lottery or first round road kill.

And not to mention if we aren't in the lottery we lose our 2012 1st round pick due to the TWill trade.

We’re not getting either of them.

Let’s just make sure to draft the youngest Gasol bother whenever he’s enters the NBA. It should save us a lot of time and hassle in the future.

Here's a strategy to get Gasol.

Offer a 1 year max salary.

If Memphis matches, Gasol can stilll leave after 1 year.

No way Gasol would accept this offer

I have come around to the idea of giving Gasol the max. Size is so hard to come by in this league and we get a guy that is fairly young at that. Maybe Nene would go along playing alongside the "Male Gasol"

It's only to force Memphis to do a S&T if he doesn't want to play there.

His only option to force trade now is to accept a 1 year base offer from Memphis.

He would get the max deal after that anyways.

According to the Memphis Grizzles owner, he will match any offer that Marc Gasol gets. He thinks Gasol as a very important part of his team. Having a great season and playoffs last year helped him convince that he need to keep the core of that Memphis team.
    M.Gasol
    Gay
    Randolph
    Tony Allen
    Conley
    Xavier Henry
    Darrell Arthur
This grizzles team is very legit. Remember they did not have Gay last year in the playoffs.
As far as the Rockets, signing Dalembert or trading for Kaman from Clippers will be the obvious choices. If Kaman is involved in the Chris Paul trade to New orleans, then I dont want to deal with New Orleans because of what happened with the Vetoed trade. I think all teams should refuse dealing with New Orleans this season.
