Nope, no controversy. TJ earned the spot. Yeah, there was injury and you hate to see guys lose their spot to injury, but there it is. TJ IMO has earned the backup QB spot.
They probably won't extend Schaub's contract after next year if Yates keeps this up... but still a lot of football to be played. Yates is still in line to succeed Schaub... but it doesn't need to be as soon as next year.
Come on y'all don't kid yourselves. He's been very solid for being a 5th rounder but he made some very rookie mistakes like taking that sack on the last drive, that horrid interception, missing an open Daniels twice on the inside seam. Schaub is easily much better. Let's have this conversation at the end of next year.

Can you imagine the money this team will have if we let Mario and Schaub walk to sign free agents. Scary.
Time will tell .. but if at the end of the year there's a legitimate QB controversy, then we'll have a good problem on our hands. A trade of either with a QB desperate team could lead to a high draft pick. I hope they Keep Yates as the back-up, insurance to a brittle Shaub.
