Do you think signing Marc Gasol to 4-years, $55M is a good deal for the Rockets?

Max for guys like him with 3 yrs in the NBA is 25% of salary cap. 30% for guys with many yrs in league like Nene.

    Salaries if Heisley match:

    Randolph: 15.2 / 16.5 / 17.8. / 16.5
    Gay: 15.0 / 16.5 /17.9 / 19.3
    Gasol: 13.7 / 13.7 / 13.7 / 13.7
    Conley: 6.6 / 7.3 / 8.0 / 8.7 / 9.4

That's alot tied up to 4 players, especially in a small market like Memphis.

Ronald Tillery: Sources tell CA that Griz already gave Gasol offer worth more than any team is allowed. Twitter

I've been on a Texans high, any chance this actually happens or was it just a shot in the dark?

This has to be a shot in the dark. No way Grizzlies let him walk without anything

Who knows? There was some rumor about him leaving. Maybe wants bigger role in offense dominated by Gay and Zach? Maybe no like how Owner criticized bro Pau after trading Pau?

Why hasn't he re-signed with them if the reports are true that they offered him a contract on Friday?

It's not like he's holding out for a better deal, because no team can offer him a better contract than Grizzlies.

He has got to want out.

Unless he requests a trade to HOUSTON.

All true, but the Grizzlies know he won't walk away from all that $$$$, so they can iust wait him out.

Same thing Morey did to Landry a few years ago.

I'd rather have nene anyway, try to work a S&T for him

"As for brother Mark’s future, Gasol would like to 'see him with a franchise that has better options” than the Memphis Grizzlies.'"

Offer sheets have to be for a minimum of two years (option years don't count).

So he's either using the Rockets as leverage for a true max contract from the Grizzlies or he's trying to force his way out of Memphis? Is that the gist of it?

So you wouldn't have a problem paying nene, an older player and marginal defender this much money why?? Oh, 2 more points a game that's it. I'm sure nene would have averaged more than 7 boards of he wasn't playing alongside Zach Randolph........ Wait, that was gasol. Silly me.
