Do you think signing Marc Gasol to 4-years, $55M is a good deal for the Rockets?

Rockets pursuit of MGasol still a longshot. Memphis likely to match, unlikely to do sign-and-trade. It's a Hail Mary after trade collapsed.

We could use Marc Gasol, signed for 4-years and $12 per to entice Orlando to deal Dwight????

I'm sure that is true. They would be foolish not to find a way to keep him.

to answer the poll question, no. Its maybe a couple millions each year too much. Make it a 4 year 48 mil then sure. Especially since were gonna give up a valuable asset for the SnT? Pffft

FYI Gasol averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal and 2 TO on 51% shooting in the playoffs.

MEM about $5.5M below the cap. Could have more room w/Mayo-McRoberts trade. Matching on Gasol will NOT put Grizz into luxury tax territory.

    This doesn't sound good.

Rockets actually will have $12.9 million in cap room, which is Gasol's max offer sheet.

Yep. The only possibility is If he somehow forces his way out of Memphis.

    Ok,

Let's hold on for a moment, this reads to me like Morey is trying to convince them to trade him to Houston because they are going to offer a max contract.

Memphis already offered him that, so why would they be willing to trade him to Houston if they are already planning to give him that money and more?

They could offer more years, why would Gasol sign an offer sheet with Houston?

Maybe I am just a little bit clouded after all these last few days, but none of this makes sense.

    1. Memphis will match any offer it would actually be cheaper for them to do that
    2. Gasol wants the most money, he probably knows the Grizz will match, so why sign an offer?
    3. The Rockets have to convince Memphis that KMart would be better for them than Gasol.

I just do not see it happening, which probably means it will...lol.

Marc can threaten to sign the qualifying offer and walking away for nothing next season. That may move Memphis to to S&T.

Bima's latest tweets make it seem very very unlikely Memphis Does not match the Rockets offer from a salary cap perspective, and most likely would value Gasol over anything the Rockets can offer in a S&T.

only way I see Grizzlies not matching is if Marc really wants out and went over Wallace and straight to Heisley

    ChrisVernonShow Chris Vernon
Wallace and Morey are big buddies, so it may be Morey is helping out by signing Marc to sheet - so that Grizz can just match.

I have been told 500000000 x's from Grizzlies front office, "Don't worry, Marc will be back."

    ChrisVernonShow Chris Vernon
asked Grizzlies source about possibility of sign-and-trade deal w/ Gasol - "Don't see that happening"

    P. Gasol + Nene should be better than M. Gasol + Nene should be better than P. Gasol + M. Gasol.

Marc is younger and still has room to grow, but Pau's game is way more refined, and, not being a traditional center, fits better with the pace/meta of the current league.

That's assuming Marc wants to play here though.

It's all up to him now. If Marc wants to play here, there is no doubt that Memphis will go for a S&T. If Marc doesn't, well it's not like we had anything in the first place.
