Jesus Christ, some of you guys actually want Morey out?

He is one of few things the Rockets have going for themselves.

    Such an ignorant fan base.........smdh.

Why would Morey quit when he has this stashed over in Europe just waiting for the 2012 -2013 season. Time to trade our logjam at the power forward position for picks.

True 7 footer weighing in at 240 pounds. Can't wait cant wait!

I love how you throw in lowrys contract in to the mix to try to make the 34 million for nene and gasol seem more cost effective

Be real do you think Nene and Gasol are worth 34 million a season

One bad playoff year (10 games), the 3 years before, he made it to the finals all 3 times, won twice, was highly productive (PER: 19, 22, 24. Yes, PER does do a decent job of measuring performance. Better than "quotes.")

Bottom line: Every basketball team can use good 7 gooters. Gasol is as good a 7 footer as you'll find possibly available anywhere, other than maybe Dwight Howard. Does he have flaws? Sure. Even Shaq had flaws (Free throw, for one) but obsessing over these flaws is useless.

    And stupid.

As for "cornerstone": Who saying that the Rockets was going to stop trying to get another star or improve their roster in general once they land Gasol? As Bima pointed out, the trade would have left the team plenty of cap room in 2012 to chase another FA or facilitate a trade even if they sign Nene to a big contract this year.

Just because he's the best guy you get right now, don't mean you'd give up trying for better.

Why are you responding to this idiot?

You can't reason with these types of people. It's literally talking to a brick wall.

    1. I disagree
    2. He didn't say anything of the sort. He said Lee was a starter for a championship team as a rookie. That is a fact, and that is all he said. Don't put words in his mouth.
    3. His defense was not that bad. His defense in isolations vastly improved, likely with the help of a year and a half of Battier's tutelage. Opponents PPS against Budinger was not anything special.
    4. Why? Because it gave us better assets to find a superstar through trade? Either in the draft or on another team? Your posts are truly perplexing. Getting two top centers does not hinder our goal in any way.

No amount of shrewd front office moves will ever compensate for drafting outside the top ten unless you are LA, NY, Miami, or Chicago. All other NBA teams must pluck stars from the draft and use them to recruit other stars.

    I'm calling it now.

Kevin Love will demand a trade to the Lakers after his contract is about to come up.

I never said he was a main reason... But he wasn't bad enough for teams to exploit him like Korver in Chi town. The main reason we could make it far would be our front court.

And also yea, Buds D is not that bad, he's improved a lot over the years.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/player/hollinger/_/id/3968/chase-budinger

But hey you probably know more about basketball than Hollinger.

Oh and also we just drafted Morris who could end up being the starter after a season anyways.

Top 5 centers are expensive, and they are worth every penny...

We would have had two. Another step towards bringing in a superstar.

Thats the problem Morey doesn't understand that. The only shrewed front office move would be too package together players to get a top ten pick

I don't think the way Les has chosen is impossible. I think Daryl can pull it off.

That said, I admit that it would be much easier to suck, and much more exciting for fans to watch younger players with "potential" than to watch old mediocre guys pick blueberries and wait for talent upgrades year after year.

(Nene and Pau would have GREATLY helped in that department)

THAT is the problem YOU don't seem to understand.

Can people stop repeating this as a point?

Do you honestly think Morey has NEVER though about trading K-Mart and Scola for a draft pick?

Why do you think he isn't doing it? Think about that hard.

really what don't you understand if we trade off martin, scola and Lee and play the young guys. We could have our own top ten pick and potentially trade for another one

Ya look at the pistons if they picked up melo, dwade or even bosh instead of making the worst pick ever. They would have won multiple rings and still might be contending lol.

Lol wow 1 team wins a ring without a superstar and everybody thinks their the model. Remember that Detroit had multiple stars, not superstars but stars.

Billips was a allstar caliber player, Hamilton all star caliber player, Prince very good player, Rasheed Wallace star Player, Ben Wallace wasn't a superstar but in terms of rebounding and defense he was dominant.

So you right im all for it if we can get 4 star players and 1 very good player we could compete.

Hak34 champions false perception, CCorn uses facts to back up his argument.
