    It's kind of odd that...

The sucky GM in Kahn now has a lot more "assets" than
our good GM who has made a bunch of good decisions and moves.

This is because the system is rigged to reward those that make stupid decisions (ala real-world Wall street and their bailouts)

KNote and CH with the win. Haha, if anyone believes a front court of Nene and Gasol couldn't compete for a title is confused. Only the Grizz and Thunder would be able to stop them, and if we cleared them the Heat would have to rely on jumpers to beat them... and we've seen how that works for them.

Not saying they WOULD win it all, but it would be way more likely than the team we have configured now.

Btw Gasol doesn't want to be a rocket. If he were a rocket his production would almost certainly decline. Now for all you statistical gurus and morey fans heres a stat that you will all love

The new deal, according to a breakdown circulated Wednesday to the league's 30 teams, calls for Gasol to earn $18,714,150 in 2011-12, $19,000,000 in 2012-13 and $19,285,850 in 2013-14.

So you guys are fans of giving gasol his 19 million then signing nene for 15 million

34 million a season for Nene and gasol you must be crazy

Yeah except Gasol wanted no part of Houston. Did anyone know if Nene would of definately signed here? So who played SG for us? how about SF? Before you go listing people would those people make the Rox a real contender? Does Nene wBt to come here and be on a middle of the pact team to play with a highly disgruntled Pau? With Lowry, T Will, Hasheem, Lee and the rest of our undermanned roster?

I would bet his production would increase without KOBE ball hogging.

In theory what your saying makes sense but gasol would have very little motivation he is now used to competing for championships on the rockets he would be competing just to make the playoffs

Well we have a SG on our team that made it to the NBA finals playing that position, and our starting SF can be pretty lethal if he gets an open shot if you noticed what happened to his production last year when he got to start. With 2 giants in the paint Bud will not have to try and make his own shot ;) he'll be fine as a starter, and with Martin and Scola out of the lineup Bud's liabilities on D, which aren't as bad as people think, wouldn't even be noticeable.

People who think Gasol's quotes means he hates Houston and will pout his way out of it have reading comprehension issues.

Want to take a look at his playoff numbers over the last few years? Really PER???

How about these quotes after the playoffs.

    "I collapsed"
    "I was tired"
    "I failed"

    This is your cornerstone?

Exactly, he's a pro if he came here he would want to show the Lakers they screwed up by trading him. I could see him ending Bynums career like he did to you.

If the Rockets are going to build their team based on whom wants to play here as opposed to LA, we should just contract the team.

40 million for Kyle Lowry, Pau Gasol and Nene is worth every penny, and a huge upgrade in accumulated talent. These guys would help Morey make future deals in trades and free agency, and also give him a few more roster spots to do what he does best (Find hidden talent). The accumulating asset phase would begin all over again, except now you would have two top flight centers in your back pocket.

The greatest thing about the deal as proposed, to me, was that our young players would get to play with two great big men. Lee/Williams/Morris/Budinger would all increase their trade value with the added playing time and general effectiveness of having two centers at their disposal to finish and do the dirty work. Build value of assets, trade assets for an asset that is a bit better. Rinse and repeat.

Regardless, I will also be excited If we can trade for some young talent and just tank a little bit this year. If that's the case, these vets have got to go, especially Martin.

    This is so much fail.

You act as if Lee was a main reason Orlando went to the finals. I do believe he is a nice piece to have as a part time player. But he was not any reason that team went anywhere.

I stopped after you said Bud's d wasn't that bad.

This was about to set the Rockets back another 5 years. We would be a middle of the road team locked into two huge contracts for players not worth it and not going to take us anywhere.

    Yep, like me.

He can go do his moneyball, theories with the Oakland A's. Take Le$ with you. Bring a real basketball GM and a Mark Cuban owner in here and lets rebuild.

I'm basing my theory off the statistical concept of him getting more touches. I could be wrong but likely not. You're using a soft science, aka psychology to say Gasol will mope all year long and won't want to play. Conversely he could just as easily have intensity after bonding with the guys on the Rockets and especially when the competition heats up in the playoffs. Of course this is all guess work and shouldn't be the reason you don't pull the trigger on a trade.

Yes, because the GM has so much to do with Les's mandate to not rebuild.

    LOL

You think Kyrie Irving wants to play in Cleveland?

Do you think he'll sulk his way through Cleveland?

Most people in this world don't like their job, it doesn't mean they won't do it.
