There has to be something legal Les can do about this. I know the majority of owners had a vote to help decide this, but even Stern himself admitted it WAS NOT due to any owners inputs but wanted to keep the integrity for New Orleans. Well how the hell do you keep their integrity if Paul should walk (for free) during free agency. Hell Nola SHOULD do something about this, I hope Paul goes for legal action at least.

I've heard about the propaganda about protecting small market owners but the problem is in this particular instance other small market owners were calling to the shots in a conflict of interest position to the detriment of other owners. It is of public knowledge that Cuban and Dan Gilbert were the loudest whiners and Stern listened to them. If he was protecting these other owners who were complaining how about the teams involved in this trade who invested their time, money and effort in the trade. Stern basically reneged on his duty to protect the rockets, lakers and hornets as well because of his blind desire to appease the other owners. He threw propriety and decency out of the window citing basketball reasons only a General Manager has the expertise of making.

FACT:The Rockets aren't CLOSE to signing Dwight Howard and NEVER were.

FACT:Dwight Howard has already stated he wants New Jersey. Isnt even thinking about Houston and will NEVER sign a extension here.

You guys are beyond delusional lol.

So, basically instead of helping "competitive balance", Stern has caused all these players values to be watered down and they will either walk as free agents or they will garner a lot less in trade.

With the deal Morey was putting together, the Hornets were getting way more value than the Cavs and Raptors got for their superstars.

The way I see it, Stern has just forced all these superstars (CP3, Dwight, DWill) to play out the seasons with their respective teams and sort it out in the 2012 off season. I don't see any of them being traded at this point. Orlando and the Lakers have more incentive to tear down their teams, dump salary and clear space so they can sign whoever moves. Orlando's obvious move is to trade whoever else besides Dwight for junk, tank the season, then wind up with a good lottery pick and enough cap space to sign DWill outright. The Lakers incentive is to tear down their salaries, and give away salary so they can sign at least one guy outright this off season. The Rockets incentive is to give away talent like Martin and Scola for picks and expiring contracts and rebuild by going to the lottery. You may actually have more teams competing for the lottery than competing for a championship. And that wasn't supposed to be the consequences of the new CBA.

The way that you water down superstar value is you quit giving them favorable calls on the court. You simply call the game by the rules, not by whose name is on the back of the jersey.

and hey rightfully should try and accomplish that. 10k season ticket holders getting refunds before the first game is gonna damage the hornets beyond repair:eek:

Wrong in so many different ways. This decision was all about politics among the NBA owners not some concocted conspiracy theory.

KMart will be fine. He is a professional and understands that this is a business. Don't underestimate the shock value of an announced trade gone bad. Players initial responses should be given the benefit of the doubt.

Saying Stern stopped the trade to keep Houston from landing Dwight Howard is random BS.

Exactly. This isnt the first time a trade has been rescinded. The players will be fine. They understand it's a business. Man, if one failed trade set us back sooooo far, Morey was doing something wrong in the first place. If this trade doesn't work out, we need to me move on. Let's stop acting like this trade killed our franchise. man.

    Thank You
I am so tired of hearing all of these excuses for Morey. He has no loyalty to players and that doesn't go unnoticed. No one will come and play here. I agree with the thought of Stern messing up the plan, but the point is that there are no guarantees and putting your all into something that may or may not happen is crazy.
I was not of fan of tanking, but with this screw up I think it's time.

Yep. Kevin is a pro. Plus, he's been traded before.

His quote about "knowing their plans" wasn't even about Morey. It was about New Orleans management (as opposed to "ownership") wanting him so badly.

Martin knows what Morey went through to get him from Sacramento and also realizes that Gasol is an elite player worth trading for.

He'll be just fine in a couple of days. There is absolutely no need to trade him now just for the sake of trading him or because of any perceived "bad blood."

This is one True Beaner! Can't agree with you even more. Battier, gone, Hayes, gone. Imagine if Scola was gone too! This team would seriously lack any identity and the sad part, we had 2 guys that LOVED being our glue guy. See Chauncy Billups. Rep'd.

I'll disagree here, Kevin is a professional but this wasn't a regular trade. The Rockets tried to trade him TWICE, not just the initial time but in the revamp trade. I can not believe he is happy about the process and getting exposed by the league as not being good enough to trade for Chris Paul.

Martin has been traded before but he wanted out of Sacramento and was going to a team with a coach that drafted him. He wasn't being pushed out, he wanted out.

This is a very toxic situation and while I hope your right, he might say the right things like yesterday and Friday but his body language and tone will speak volumes.

How is Morey contradicting himself? He got a new coach with wildly different philosophies and a owner who doesn't want to tank. McHale has repeated ad nauseum that we need more defense, rebounding, and toughness. Has also cracked jokes about how he doesn't like being taller than all his players. Is it really that surprising that we tried making this move and getting rid of two non all stars that don't play defense and trying to get some height?

Kevin Martin needs to prove to the League that he can play at a high level and be healthy for the next two seasons. Keep in mind that he is a free agent after next season. His next contract could potentialy be a big pay day for him and be his last big contract.

Id have to disagree here. In actuality, players tend to respond to situations like this(even if out of spite) to try and prove something on the court. They might be pissed about Morey wanting to trade them, but at the end of the day, it could just fuel their competitive spirit on the court.

If Martin sulks, then its one thing, but I doubt that will be the case given his past as always being professional and if hes healthy, he has always produced big, even in Sacramento when he was forced to play next to a potential career ruiner in Tyreke Evans.

They were told absolutely no Martin and Scola. Yet Morey was still desperate enough to try and jettison his unwanted contracts onto the Hornets a second time.

What identity did we have? Don't say a hardworking team or some bs like that. Every team works hard. Morey was trying to do his job and make this team relevant in a league that's becoming dominated by super friends. As much as I loved those two glue guys, there's no point of having them here when the parts they're glueing together leave us in mediocrity. Some of you who complain have no idea what a Gasol and presumably Nene front court would have done for this team but I'm sure it definitely would have done a lot better than a hayes/scola one or whichever one we have now.

But yeah fire morey and let Mchale take the reigns....that should jettison us to the top
