That Minny team with Kevin Martin and Rick Adelman coaching could actually be pretty fun this year. Rubio, Kevin Martin, Derrick Williams/Beasley/Wes Johnson, Kevin Love, Darko "greatest passing big man since Vlade Divac" Milicic
my 1st post Hello Clutchfans, I have been a secret clutchfan for many many years. Never registered until today. Due to David Sterns trade blockage BS. I want to start of by saying I am a HUGE Rockets fan. On the Kmart to Minny topic, makes sense. Kmart is mad (and rightly so) I love Kmart but we are mediocre with the current roster. We need to shake things up. Plus, Kmart is Rick Aldemans pet. So why not. I just hope Rick hooks us up with a nice deal. Minny does have some good assets. W. Johnson, D. Williams. R. Rubio, K. Love, M. Beasley, A. Randolph. It would be great to have love and Rubio. Realistically I know that has about 2% chance. I was in favor of the P. Gasol trade (even though I though Houston was giving to much) I came to terms with the original trade. Due to the fact we got cap relief and could sign M. Gasol or Nene. Funny, if the union takes legal action and makes D. Stern approve the trade. Even if Kmart goes to Minny and L. Odom is not in Dallas. Funny, if New Orleans had to take less because of Stern's D!#K self. Haha But anywho.... Be neat to see R. Rubio, P. Gasol, M. Gasol. In a Rocket Red. Spain would love us. Atleast we would have 2 teams to cheer for in the olympics (USA&Spain) and we would have a overseas team when the NBA season is over. I'm am extremely letdown at the moment. I hope somethen happens. Morey can facilitate a trade. I just want to win. Tired of not sucking and not getting top picks, tired of not winning enough and being in playoff contention. Regardless, Rockets for life. Bleed Rocket Red. Until proven wrong. Trust in Morey. Oh, let me add. Yes I do miss spell words. Yes I do space out my sentence. That's just what I do. No need to comment on that. GO ROCKETS!
Minny isn't parting with Love or Rubio for anyone on our roster. Plus, Les wants to win immediately, so he wouldn't be interested in a rookie Euro guard. I think the Rockets are going to overpay for Dalembert, and maybe take a look at Iggy. Those are two moves that are probably doable, and both moves would help the Rockets win regular season games/sell tickets.
Martin ...for... Darko Milicic & Michael Beasley We can throw in Budinger if they throw in Anthony Randolph and / or picks -Not a fan of Milicic but he is better than what we have NOW and with KMH it may all "click" for him. -Not a fan of Beasley but IF Morris is really going to be the small forward of the future than rent Beasley for a season so Morris can learn from a similar type of player. The Rockets can start to run the new sets this season. Then start to give Morris as much time as he can handle and still not hurt the team. -I am a fan of Randolph much like Milicic with KMH the sky my be the limit.
Normally tanking is a crapshoot with no guarantee of anything coming out of it - that part I can agree with. But does it lead to years of mediocrity? Not if you are doing it at the right time. 2009 would have been a waste but 2012 is the right time. Tank. Tank hard. The good news is since this is a short season, we don't have to tank long. I'm going to cherry pick some data: 2003 1. Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James F St. Vincent-St. Mary's HS 2. Detroit Pistons Darko Milicic F/C Serbia and Montenegro 3. Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony F Syracuse 4. Toronto Raptors Chris Bosh F Georgia Tech 5. Miami Heat Dwyane Wade G Marquette 2004 01. Orlando Dwight Howard SW Atlanta Christian Academy (Ga.) 2005 1 Milwaukee Bucks Andrew Bogut, Utah 2 Atlanta Hawks Marvin Williams, North Carolina 3 Utah Jazz Deron Williams, Illinois 4 New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul, Wake Forest 2006 1 Toronto Raptors Andrea Bargnani Italy 2 Chicago Bulls LaMarcus Aldridge Texas 3 Charlotte Bobcats Adam Morrison Gonzaga 2007 1 Portland Trail Blazers Greg Oden Ohio State 2 Seattle SuperSonics Kevin Durant Texas 3 Atlanta Hawks Al Horford Florida 4 Memphis Grizzlies Mike Conley Jr. Ohio State 5 Boston Celtics Jeff Green Georgetown 2008 1 Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose Memphis 2 Miami Heat Michael Beasley Kansas State 3 Minnesota Timberwolves O.J. Mayo USC 4 Seattle Supersonics Russell Westbrook UCLA 5 Memphis Grizzlies Kevin Love UCLA Of course the higher the pick, the better your odds. And you increase your odds with better tanking, And if you don't blow it like the Grizzlies (pick poorly and trade away the only good player you've picked). And if you notice 1 thing...look at the teams in that list. Bulls - twice. Heat - twice. Thunder - twice. Celtics. Magic. And some other solid teams like Utah, Hawks, Nuggets, Blazers. Can you see 1 name that isn't up there 1 time? Rockets. Tanking done improperly is for losers. But not all tanking is bad. Stop thinking about the Clippers and Grizzlies (who have eventually passed us through years of stink) and start seeing tanking as a tool that if used properly at the right time you can get someone who you can't trade for. 2012 is that time.
Yep. Consider the trade reversal a sign from the basketball Gods. If that was plan A, then plan B is going to suck. Hard. Let's hope Les wakes up and orders a rebuild, while there's still time to snatch that Clipper's pick from Minny. Either way, we will know soon enough.
Minny and Houston will have plenty of trades in the next few years. I honestly have NO problem with the idea of Morey being trade partners with Kahn. Minny is going to be a good team and they will have plenty of nice, young pieces. Morey takes advantage of bad GM's. This is going to be a beautiful relationship for Houston.
If I'm not mistaken, Minny's pick is going to the Clippers right? What we should look for is a contender who owns a rebuilder's pick who wants to go all in for this year with Martin and/or Scola. Otherwise, what type of rebuilding team would trade for two prime-ish, above-average role players for their unprotected first rounder?
I don't think Martin or Scola are they key to such a move. It's trading guys like Lee, an expiring contract, and Patterson. They're the pieces to get a guy like Iggy who has a higher trade value than anyone currently on this team.
