Maybe not but if you pair him with Nene you have the best front court in the league.

At the end of the day, its a bottom line business. And our bottom line is that despite a valiant effort, we have not improved our team, while others have been able to do so, in some cases, dramatically.

While they were undoubtedly screwed over by Stern, you could also argue that they should have done more due diligence to make sure the trade would actually be feasible before sinking so much time into it and risking their relationships with key players (and missing out on other players/losing Chuck).

I think they are also at fault for not having a clear enough player acquisition strategy (that makes sense) that has the buy-in of the entire front office. Clearly there are different ideas on the way to get good again and it seems time and time again that they're not on the same page about how to do this and the timeline for doing so.

Finally, and we forget this because he's such a "nice guy" and "player's coach" but the McHale hiring is still extremely questionable. Do we really want our head coach tutoring two below average big men on how to do a jump hook or putting together a strategy for the whole team? His ideas seem hopelessly out of date and I think we will be exposed as a result. I think the front office must pull their socks up.

If you think McHale is a "nice guy", you don't know **** about basketball. Have a nice day!

That was a bunch of pure made up fiction.

And honest. Don't put so much thought in fiction next time.

And well-reasoned too! You pointed out exactly what parts you felt were fiction in a coherent and logical way. Don't let me get in the way of your self back-slapping!

He's right though, starting from point one. None of the players - including the team owned by the League's own GM - had any idea that Stern ready to veto even in the realm of possiblity. Not the Lakers, Rockets, Hornets, or even anyone else from all indications. To hold the Rockets responsible for not doing 'due dilligence' is intellectually dishonest.

And key players always get upset if they are going to be traded, whether it goes through or not. It is the nature of the beast, hardly a fault of the Rockets. That does not, nor should it, stop a team from trying to make a deal.

As far as not having the 'buy in' of the front office, there could be some reasoning to that, but you actually have to have some examples of this situation rather than just throwing it out there.

On McHale, while I don't think it would have been my choice, until we see this mix, that's also simply an assumption. Hard to blame the GM for something that hasn't happened yet.

So, yes, there wasn't much 'fact' to your post for discussion.

    1) "Bottom line business" is vague.
    2) Morey has (dramatically) improved this team, when you consider the cumulative gains made from a steady stream of moves.

So GM's should inform every other team of their pending deals to make sure they won't get vetoed? The league is dysfunctional. That's not Morey's fault.

If the front office "clearly" is operating without a united strategy, you should have no trouble enumerating some of these blunders that happen "time and time again."

Honestly, what's clear is that you're full of ****.

I haven't bought into the McHale regime, but you have to give the benefit of the doubt to an organization that has made many shrewd moves without a major mistake.

Well actually he's not right, but I'm so glad that he has you as his big brother to defend him when he has nothing to say.

The fact is that the Rockets have not upgraded their mediocre team. I think that's fairly hard to dispute. Please tell me how that is fiction.

It is also fact that the relationship with Kevin Martin and Luis Scola has been strained by this near-trade. If you want some factual evidence, just listen to their interviews. I think you can find them on Rockets.com. Sure, they may get over it soon, but for now the fact is that they are unsettled. And while they know they can get traded at any time, the fact is that hardly any of them are actually traded and then have to deal with the trade being rescinded.

How can you not at least ask the question about whether the Rockets should have had an inkling that this would get vetoed? Do you know whether they called Stern during the off season to ask about this or did they just assume?

Last year Phil Jackson predicted - and it was a basic insight - that trading for Chris Paul would be extremely challenging because of the obvious conflicts of interest at play. You think its a sound strategy for the Rockets to their entire season on a toxic Chris Paul situation that represents a clear conflict of interest? You don't think the Rockets should have considered this possibility and done a bit more research?

Finally, for you to criticize me for a lack of evidence to back up my points and then provide a completely fact-less post in return is pretty laughable and speaks to your maturity. A message board is not purely a place of facts, it is a place of discussion, debate and opinion. If you want purely facts, go to Wikipedia.

Thanks for your follow-up and blind love of all things Daryl Morey. I hope that photo you keep of him in your wallet is still intact after all the "use" it gets.

Bottom line business is a completely understandable term. In business it means profit and loss. In basketball it means wins and losses. Don't try and get cute with your "vagueness" when I used a term that even a complete reprobate would understand.

Secondly, please show me what facts you are referring to when you tell me that the Rockets have improved dramatically. This is obvious and mindless propaganda! Its like you people don't even think before you speak. Here is our record over the last 10 years. Tell me where to look for the dramatic increase? Our record last year is two games worse than it was 10 years ago. We've missed the playoffs the last two years, etc etc. Let me know.

    2010-11 Houston 43 39 .524 5th Southwest Division - - - DNQ
    2009-10 Houston 42 40 .512 3rd Southwest Division - - - DNQ
    2008-09 Houston 53 29 .646 2nd Southwest Division 6 7 .462 Lost West Conf Semis
    2007-08 Houston 55 27 .671 3rd Southwest Division 2 4 .333 Lost West Conf 1st Rd
    2006-07 Houston 52 30 .634 3rd Southwest Division 3 4 .429 Lost West Conf 1st Rd
    2005-06 Houston 34 48 .415 5th Southwest Division - - - DNQ
    2004-05 Houston 51 31 .622 3rd Southwest Division 3 4 .429 Lost West Conf 1st Rd
    2003-04 Houston 45 37 .549 5th Midwest Division 1 4 .200 Lost West Conf 1st Rd
    2002-03 Houston 43 39 .524 5th Midwest Division - - - DNQ
    2001-02 Houston 28 54 .341 5th Midwest Division - - - DNQ
    2000-01 Houston 45 37 .549 5th Midwest Division - - - DNQ

Thank you for your idiotic post and your name calling. I could rebuff your other "points" too but frankly its a waste of time.

My post was my own agreement, and I gave you the reasons why (which is what you were crying about). If you aren't able to handle that (which, seeing as how your default response mode is 'insulting', you obviously can not), it's not my problem. Just understand that sometimes in the real world, more than one person is going to disagree with you. It's not a reason for you to get upset.

You are simply rehashing here. We've already talked about why these are nothing but assumptions, or simple aspects of the game that are hardly unique to the Rockets. There are still no facts here.

You seem quite confused. (and lol at the maturity jab). You get angry because someone says you have no facts, and then your last counter is 'well it doesn't have to be facts, message board!!'

BTW, If I disagree with your post, that isn't some personal attack. But I guess that speaks to 'maturity'.

The fact that last years' squad almost equaled in record to the 2000-2001 squad, after we lost our star, starting center last year, our star wing player the year before, and our starting point guard to injuries for a significant portion of the season is a testament to how well Morey has done given what any GM in his position could. What could any other GM have done better in Morey's position? And given his circumstances, what move did he screw up on? Some real critique if you have any.

Bottom line is we've had a contending team, while we were healthy. We were in position to win each and every one of those playoffs series. If you're judging GM's by champion wins, then 29 GM's should be fired every year. That's insane.

Now you've totally changed your argument. You originally said that we've improved dramatically under Morey's watch which I disagreed with, using the facts that you were crying out for. Morey's performance without McGrady and Yao was not what we were talking about.
