As it currently stands though, do we still have money for Nene? Nene+Scola+KMart seems a lot better to me than Pau and Nene. Maybe we can do a sign and trade and give up Courtney Lee and filler.

Can the Rockets sue the NBA? I wasn't that crazy about the deal. But the delay by the league did cost us something.

The bigger question is if Nene wants to play here if Gasol isn't here too. Signing in NJ and potentially playing with Williams and Howard is more attractive.

You know what's killing me right now other than a possible Lethal Nene/Gasol combo being shot down?

We lost Chuck Hayes for no reason.

Lakers had offered Lamar Odom to teams with salary cap space, one GM says. "He wanted out and they really wanted to reduce the tax bill."

Sure you can always sue, but you most likely won't win the case.

What did the delay cost us? If they had said "No" immedietly how would things be different for us? Martin and Scola would have better feelings about the team? Even if NO had said no immediately word would have gotten out that the Rockets had offered Scola and Martin so we're in the same situation. Sounds like Nene was waiting to see if we got Gasol and once it was known that we weren't getting him then we became much less appealing to him.

Teams pulling out of trades at the 12th hour happens every year. The NBA ownes the Hornets so them pulling out is no different than other cases. Remember the famous Damon Stoudamire to the Rockets deal that Toronto backed out of at the last minute?

I hope CP3 goes to the Clippers. If they could get him without giving up Gordon, Butler, Griffin, and one of Jordan/Kaman, they could be good for a real long time.

He won't be able to play with Dhoward. I'm pretty sure he'd be traded in the package for DH instead. Dmorey should send his lackeys to Nene to tell him he'll end up playing for Stan Van Gundy and the Magic if he decides to sign in NJ.

Also can't we talk to Denver about a sign and trade? I'm pretty sure Denver would love to get one of our young guys rather than lose Nene to free agency.

Instantly puts them in to top 3 in the West with that lineup.

So the Lakers could try to trade Bynum, a lesser player and the traded-player exception for Dwight Howard and, again an example, JJ Redick.

Or, again, they might just be dumping salary of a recently irritated player. A tad too early to tell...but strange choice to send him to DAL

I don't see Orlando going for that when they can get Lopez and the picks from NJ and send them Turk. I think it will have to be Bynum and Gasol.

But why to a rival in Dallas though?

Just doesn't make sense from a competitive standpoint.

I don't think any team with money wants Odom.. I'm assuming a scenario ehre where the Lakers just wanted to dump his salary and had no choice because tehy had no takers except for contending teams.

I am thinking more on the lost opportunities of signing free agents. Deals were made in the past 2 days while we were waiting for the approval. I am not a legal expert. Does the conflict of interest (one of the trading parties being owned by the league) issue has any teeth?

If Paul sues for collusion, he does have a case especially since Mark Cuban indirectly admitted in a radio show that it was not a move for the Hornets but for the betterment of the entire league.
