They didn't bring Chandler back because he wanted a long-term deal. Odom's contract has a team option, so they can try to defend their title and go after a max player next summer. Pretty smart.
This is bothering the hell out of me right now. Why do the Mavs get a 6th man of the year with a reasonable contract for a bag of chips?
When the first deal was denied, I heard Wojo, on the radio, mention Rockets' officials said this would set the franchise back 3 years.
Hey guys Feigen tweets not too long ago, not sure if any one knows! About ten of us should post his tweet all at once, just to make sure.
RicBucher Ric Bucher Logic says Clips put Minn's (ultra-valuable) No. 1 pick in CP3 deal before Eric Gordon. It's what both CP3/Blake would want and, well... RicBucher Ric Bucher Then again, logic has been taking quite the beating lately.
Maybe did and Stern still rejected it. Maybe he doesn't want any long-term deal at all, even if for good players. Maybe he's determined to show CP who's boss. The NBA is afraid of Stern, he's seen its true face. The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood. And when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and GMs and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and Stern will whisper "No."
I think this is exactly what will happen. Lakers are just playing this game to show their displeasure with David Stern on how this negotiation is being dealt with.
http://ken-berger.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/11838893/33792495 The Rockets, who were supposed to get Gasol in the various versions of the ill-fated, three-team Paul trade, were said to be disconsolate at the breakdown in the talks. League sources said Houston's plan had been to acquire Gasol and follow it up by acquiring free-agent big man Nene with a four-year, $60-$64 million offer All gone! What does Morey do now?
Because Dell Demps want to win, and Odom is part of that. You see, the Hornets didn't sell to their city and fans a "rebuilding team". They sold to the city of NO a team that will compete and wants to compete in the city of NO. Hence, Demps wanted a team with talent. One that can win games and one where fans will watch a winning product. The other owners don't want NO to win because they'd have to pay for it. But that's why when the NBA bought the team, they hired an "independent" decision-maker who'd make decisions "for the good of the team". What killed the trade is a conflict of interest. Demps trying to win and the NBA owners trying to not pay and not let LA have all the glory. It is everything everyone feared a league-owned team would become.
Jesus Christ, Carl. Your scaring the hell out of me. IMO, this league will never be the same again. People will question the legitimacy of this league even more now.
