The Lakers do have two TPEs now that they can use to give Orlando relief. They may not be big enough to take on Hedo but they could take on Jameer and Redick along with Dwight or at least Duhon and QRich. However, I don't see Orlando sending Dwight to LA unless LA just overwhelms them with the trade. Perhaps both Bynum and Gasol for Dwight??? I would think we have the more attractive assets for Dwight since we could convert Kmart and Scola into likely expirings and draft picks to go along with our young talent we have now. I still think we should go for broke, make the trade for Dwight, take on Hedo with him and sit here with enough cap space to sign either CP3 or DWill after the season, thereby forcing NY to move DWill when they see he is going to leave for nothing.
I'd take Pau for Scola and Martin. But how much better would Paul make this team seriously? We need size, not another point guard.
LOL. If we had Paul and was offered a deal for Kyle Lowry straight up, those same people would not have the same answer
Your the guy that would rather see us be mediocre and tank right? not basketball buddy. Go put the K-Mart jersey back on.....
This trade is dead...someone please kill this thread, it is depressing me. I feel like blowing this team up. We lost Hayes for no reason and for nothing. Trade 'em all. Tank. I don't care. Kill this team. Kill this thread. Kill David Stern.
Who gives a $hit what kind of mood these guys are in? They're NBA players and are paid accordingly. The team owes them nothing but to keep cutting those huge paychecks on time; anything else is gravy. Anyone who doesn't get over being almost-but-not-quite-traded in a week or so is a pu$$y.
just trade scola/martin for picks and whatever... and lets play the young guys and hope for a good draft pick... MEH
Gutting our .500 no defense team. LOL, It's not like the Rox are trading away Griffin. They were trading away no defense vets and a couple of young guys. Do you think Morey cant find another Pat/Pat or Bud/Morris etc... It cant be done. LOL No risk/no reward Enjoy mediocrity.
People who constantly criticize Morey drive me crazy unless you're talking about the Terrence Morris deal. Even then it wasn't his fault. The guy not worth a 1st rounder was named Terrence Williams. Thats his fault.
Not a bad idea. As long as we get better, I could care less if the Lakers get better in the process. As it stands now, they are already contenders while we are a 9th place lottery team. If we have to bump them to 1st seed to get us up to 3-5th then so be it. Anything can happen in the playoffs. Being 9th place is like shooting a 3 with your toe on the line.
How do you know that? You don't even know who else would be on the team or what they look like on the floor. But I guess the set in stone fact that a Rockets team with Pau Gasol would lose in the first round is still 100% better than consistently being 9th or 10th in the West
Well said Georock! I really wonder if some of the people on this board really know basketball. It's not about the popularity of the player, it's about his ability to perform and make a difference. The NBA is about matchups! If you have a mismatch you exploit it. Somebody please fricken tell me what current rocket player creates a mismatch at his positon. CRICKETS
So I guessing with the deal dead, we're also out of the running for Nene... Oh well. However I do think its in the team's best interest to trade Kevin Martin, he seem's like the type dude who would hold a grudge. It also open's up playing time for Courtney Lee and Terrence Williams. But for now I'm just looking forward to seeing the young guys develop.
