Not so fast. I live in Germany, have never been in Houston or Texas in my life and have been a Rockets fan for about 15 years now...

OP, you're right. In almost every article that I've read in regards to this thread, it has been referred to as the CP3 trade, the New Orleans trade, or the Los Angeles trade. Houston is simply playing the role of the middle man and being completely ignored, but consistently has been in the position of paying more and getting less, AND they are the biggest cog and facilitator of the entire trade; without Houston, this is a non-issue.

I think you'd be lucky to even see the word "Houston" mentioned before the second paragraph in any of those articles.

Stern must care an awful lot about us to save Morey from himself by vetoing that terrible trade.

That's fourth largest city. Media wise it's not. On top of that, it's not considered a large market city for the NBA. Niether is Dallas or San Antonio because Texas is a football market. Oh yeah, we are bigger than say Cleveland who has a football team too, but a smaller possible viewing audience. Plus we are a bandwagon city. Do good and the seats are filled, don't do good and you have to have the red rowdies to make up for it. L.A and New York have fans that fill the seats rain or shine.

I'm sorry about leaving out our wonderful Rockets fans living outside Houston. You guys are great too!

Well put on where we place. Yeah, the NBA market in Houston is mid-tier team. And in today's NBA society where the rich get richer, mid-tier is pretty much low-tier.

Thing is we have a lot of NBA stars that live here in the off season, but they don't want to stay here. There was a time that Houston was a prefered destination, but now you have to get excited when someone like Dimbert says we are his first choice.

This is it. When the team had dream, they played on tv alot and people talked about them. When formulas was used to justify how good a player is, people don't care. This is about results and the rockets have been avg for awhile now.

And many people come here to get treated for cancer and we have one of the best medical centers, if not the best, in the nation.

Because Miami, New Jersey, New York were such winners where as Cleveland, Orlando, Denver were not?

Fourth largest in city limit population (which means absolutely nothing....for example, Arlington, TX is larger than Miami using city limits), fifth largest metro area, and the ninth largest media market. Houston is up near the top and not closer to Sacramento or Minnesota (sorry meh).

Oh, BOOHOO. Who the f cares that nobody cares about Rockets? It doesn't affect how I watch the team. Why are people so concerned about how outside people/media see us? Frankly I prefer it to rooting for a team like the Lakers where you've got legions of bandwagoning fanboys.

Well, there are fans who are blaming the team for not having already signed Melo, Bosh, Dwight Howard, CP3, DWill to the Rockets.

So apparently there are plenty of people who feel the Rockets should belong with the big boys in terms of where players want to play.

Yep, the Texans are having great success and they still don't get the respect.

Winning isn't everything to the media.
