If Gasols our answer to the C spot we are screwed. I'd rather have overpaid the chuckwagon than have this guy play C.
Instead of telling me it's a horrible post, tell me why I'm wrong? That starting team scores 80 PPG. Maybe I'm slightly pessimistic, but people seem to think Lee can easily replace Martin, I don't believe it.
yeah, there's not a lot of people that's Martin, Courtney Lee is a spot up shooter and always has been.
Exactly, there are alot of people that are not Martin. Funny 2 seasons ago he was our prize acquisition, now all of a sudden he's an easily expendable asset. Good luck replacing 23 PPG, exceptional 3 point and FT shooter (and a guy who creates FTs). OK it's obvious his defense is not that great, that is where Lee COMPLEMENTS him in situations where defense is needed. Lee cannot REPLACE him...
leebig, I really don't get this. CP3 is a big name, and apparently that's the only the NBA's fans care about. I can't wait to see him paired up with Kobe. A backcourt consisting of "give me the damn ball" is gonna rock. If the Lakers do land Howard, then I think the league should contract to about 4 teams. But, hey, new CBA and it's all about the integrity of the game. I wish at least 25 teams would just tank. Seriously.
I think one of the most important factors of this trade, and the genious move of hiring McHale is that this keeps the Rockets on folks minds. Mchale: Not only being who he is, what he's done, and his coaching abilities ... But having the tv personality that he has (that the media loves), and coming fresh from being a broadcaster will help keeps the Rockets on the league, fans and players minds. Regardless of what we all think of Gasol and what he brings to the team, the league and fans perceive him to be a star/superstar PF ... You can't always go by facts and stats ... But at times by perception (Especially when it comes to running a business ... Or in the case, a franchise.) People already know this a great organization, but the hiring of Mchale and the aggressive pursuit of Gasol (and possibly the signing of Nene) will keep the Rockets popular. We'll be "perveived" to be the team with arguibly one of the best centers and arguibly one of the best PFs in the game, with a very popular legend as a coach. These are great "assets" to have if you want current and future players to come here, and national media attention ... That's priceless. No one wants to see some of the Rockets go ... But the Rockets and the city of Houston need this.
I am fond of these players too. But let's be realistic, neither one can protect the basket. It was fun watching them score all those points in Rick Adelman's Princeton offense, but we gave up too many points with that team last year. We need to add some size downlow. This is a great trade that will help us to do that.

The nba has been around for 60 yrs and the lakeror celtics have won 33 titles. Thats not including the times they have been there and lost. This isn't anything new. Its like that because over the years, they have had the best owners and management. How many teams would've made the trade that netted the lakers worthy? No one was jumping over fences with the parish/mchale trade. People were upset norm nixon was traded for a rookie. People didn't know of this 17 yr old high schooler when they gave up a proven vet like vlade. Is it that they're lucky? I don't know, but I know in terms of the lakers, they know when to add young talent. This is the same thing. They see kobe and his mileage, and they know they need they young star and the money to get the other. They cant get howard if they don't get rid of Gasol and his 19m and odom and his 6m.
They also were smart enough to jettison Shaq as his decline began, which is what I worry about with Gasol. DD
Not sure what the trade is but your lineup could very well end up like this: PG: Lowry-Flynn SG: Williams-Taylor SF: Budinger PF: Hill-Parsons C: Gasol-Thabeet Still for the trade?
