I was comparing Amare/Chandler front line to Nene/Gasol

Knicks offense comes from Melo besides the front line, but Rockets really have no one and next best is Lowry.

Point: I think Amare and Chandler are better than Gasol and Nene

I know people will ramble about how Nene has better offense, but this is my opinion and Nene scores most of his points off put backs and dunks JUST LIKE Chandler

Alright. How will this trade allow them to score downlow? Can we control what howard does? Didn't he request a trade to the nets anyways?

I don't think you understand the implications.

    1) do we have enough cap space to compete for Nene? (is he even our target?)
What if we overpay for Pau and not end up getting outbid by another team. who is our backup... dalembert? chuck is already a casualty of this fiasco.
The uncertain pipedream of the Pau/Nene frontcourt will cost 32+mil/yr and rising each year!

    2) is that frontcourt dominant? Our main competition is ultimately against the Heat. Pau is an elite player but at best only for 2-3 years. Can we build a championship contender during that window?

Why dont we package patterson, martin, scola, dragic and a first for dwight?
    - if he stays then we can get nene at the 4... or someone else
    - if he wants to go. we do a sign and trade for brook lopez and picks... better than what we are getting now IMO

    what do you think?

Okay: say chandler=nene (which I don't agree with. Nene can actually score from other places)
Gasol is better than amare. so doesn't that mean ours would be better?

It was reported the deal may not be confirmed for a couple of more days as Jerry Buss is in the hospital recovering from blood clots in his leg(s).

We were competitive. I don't think many will disagree that as the team is currently constructed could possibly make a run next year at an 8 seed. Maybe even a 7 seed if things fall our way.

I have to believe that Morey is attempting to increase the Rockets competitiveness.

2nd best pf? 2nd best center? What does that mean if it was true? Was he the 2nd best center and pf in memphis when he was pouting? Even if he had that title, he's not on the same planet as Howard. He's not as good as dirk, amare, to name a few. I want to repeat, I like Gasol alot, but at this point for the rockets and in his career, it doesn't do it for me. Not to mention, he makes 19m per for the next 3 yrs as the topper. When you pay 1 guy that kind of jack, you're paying for monster,1st team all nba type of production.

I don't see logic in most of this. I see unfounded and unsupported opinion only.

    1. With this deal yes. Wouldn't nene have accepted new jersey's ridiculous deal by now if he didn't want to sign here? If we don't get him, they yes, go after dalembert and sign another solid player in free agency with the remaining money. Our frontcourt vs the heat frontcourt???? That's no competition. If you mean the actual team, then we would matchup well against them at all but sf. They would have extreme trouble down low. The heat won't even make the finals IMO with all the superteams in the east

    Stern is playing games

Stern is playing games...for one of 2 reasons:

1..Either to allow for the good free agents to all sign to make sure he makes sure of equal balance.

    or

2 To allow for for the good free agents to all sign and get either the Lakers or Rockets to back out and save face.

This is my negative feeling! Call me a pessimist

How do you know he won't be a star under our system? He won't have kobe taking 35 shots a game here. How is amare better? He is definitely the second best pf/2nd to 3rd best center

But if they are free agents they have a right to chose where they want to play.

That's the east and superteams though. The heat have the big three and trash. The kinicks have their big three and trash. The celtics have their 4 guys and trash. The lakers are about to have cp3 kobe bynum and trash. That's why its the TEAMS who will win because they have players who know their role.

We're about to be garbage too, if we give away talent like Patterson. We're losing two of our star players as it is. Lowry is fantastic but I don't know if that's enough, especially since we're losing Dragic. We're kind of betting on Morris to pan out and Lee to be able to fill Martin's shoes.

I'm not even going to talk about how disappointed I am that Hill/Budinger never even came up as potential trade bait from Morey but guys like Patterson are.
